Thread of fate

The next morning I decided to hike back toward the school. My time here was over. I knew what my next step was. I was going back to the very home that wished me dead. I had unblocked the dragons once I decided my solitude was up. All I managed to accomplish was coming to terms with the heart Quincy handed me. I felt her soft glow wrapped around my chest even now. I knew that, this time, it wouldn't leave me. This made me smile.

My thoughts in turmoil over all that happened, I wasn't paying much attention to my surroundings. I wouldn't have fallen into any traps, but I wasn't looking out for ambushes either. So when I was tackled to the ground, I was a bit startled. Gazing up at those dancing emerald eyes, I smiled.

"Hello, lover." I purred brushing Cordgi's hair back.

"You left me again." He pouted. I saw the spark in his eyes.

"I know, I'm sorry. I may have to again, unless you want to come along on a suicide mission?" I asked.

"Where? It's not like you're going to storm the king's castle or anything, right?" he demanded before kissing me.

He rolled off of me as we sat up. I hadn't answered him yet. He frowned leaning against my shoulder.

"Right, Zyn?" he demanded.

"Actually, that's exactly what I'm planning. Unless you know of another way in to the royal library." I said.

We looked at each other. His face a mask of horror. I attempted to arrange mine in a natural position.

"No I don't." He stressed.

"The kid?" I guessed.

"He would be my bet." Cordgi agreed.

"I'm thinking just a small group..." My sentence was interrupted as Cordgi swung onto my lap.

"I'm thinking if we are doing this, then let's have some alone time first. I sent Neffy off to hunt. Tanwen is with him." As he spoke he undid my shirt. I leaned back to allow him to finish getting the ties undone.

Once they were free, I lifted my arms up. He slipped the material over my head. Leaning into me he kissed along my neck. I was glad I took the time to bathe this morning. I rolled him under me. Once more looking into the depths of those eyes. They had changed so much since I met the man under me.

At first they were locked, graded by his troubled past. Then they were frightened. Afraid I wouldn't accept the reality he had survived. That fear clung to him for a long time. Not just over my possible rejection, but over nearly everything he encountered. He had to learn to live in the world again, in a different way. Now, as I looked at them, I saw a clarity there that I hadn't before.

"I see you." I whispered. "I love the you, you have become." I added as I captured his flesh between my teeth.

He let out a soft moan. "Thank you, for giving me the peace to grow in." He murmured against my neck.

After that there wasn't much need for words. What we had to say to each other we explained with touch, kisses and a deeper understanding of who we each were in this moment of time. As I held him after our love making, I breathed out a sigh.

"There is no one I wish to walk this path with more than you. I'm glad you found your true self." I kissed his temple.

His fingers toyed with the hair on my chest. "Zyn?" he asked in a soft cooing voice.

"mmm?" I answered.

"If I asked you not to go. If someone else could do it..."

"I can't, Cordgi." I whispered stroking his hair.
