"Well, now what?" Baram glanced down at the man before me. I reached out to haul him to his feet.
"Now we march onto the capital." I offered
"After losing Ammedidon, we have been demoted to gate security." Fortane offered up.
"Fine. What do we need to get through the gate?" I asked.
Fortane glanced around. He appeared to be the leader. His eyes landed on the still form hidden by the tree line. I glanced that way. I had seen the dragon there, he was the only one outside the circle that my friends had created.
"Kestile?" Fortane asked. He stepped forward.
"I remember you." I said once he lowered the hood. His face was a line of ridges, stark and somewhat ugly. His golden eyes took in everything around him.
"You were at the hatching!" I exclaimed.
"Wait, you followed me?" Ammedidon demanded.
"It was my duty." The voice was soft, breezy. It made me shiver slightly.
"What should the plan be?" Fortane asked of the dragon.
"Hide them in the wagon. The guards won't check Bonnie's stocks. Just..." He turned his solemn gaze to me.
"Don't eat the food." His mouth twisted upwards. I chuckled.
"Deal." I agreed.
"We are seriously going to help him?" The small soul dragon demanded.
"Yes." Her knight responded.
"Now who is the traitor?" I asked softly. She glared at me.
Nope, this one was definitely not one to be trusted. I had a feeling she would go against her own Nuare to benefit herself. She wants the power, the respect Zelzada demanded by her shear presence.
"What is your name?" I asked her.
"Fangen." With that she turned away to dismiss me.
"I don't..." Dyami began.
'She is not to be trusted. Keep Wics on her.' I spoke to both rider and Nuare.
'I'll use Troxie as needed.' Wics agreed.
The rest of us went to the back of the wagon. Inside was filled with all sorts of breads, pastries and other sweets. Carefully our small band climbed inside. There wasn't enough room for everyone. It was agreed that the twins and I had to stay hidden. I didn't like it, but Cordgi hid himself under his cloak.
Ash, Neffy and Snow did the same around him. I was relived to see he wasn't alone. Dyami took a spot next to the wagon driver. He was used to wearing many disguises. His face was left open to the world, but he looked nothing like the person I knew.
His dark hair was suddenly much lighter. It was close to Cordgi's shade. His tan taunt body was slouched and drifted to the side like he had an aliment.
Wics walked with Malvent on his shoulders. They stayed close to the soul dragon as well as near the front of the wagon. It appeared that Fangen didn't want to get too close to me. Ammedidon took up a place right behind the wagon. He had grown since the last time he had entered his hometown. His hair was darker than it had been a year ago. He even had some stubble on his chin. All of it made him look older than his fourteen years. His eyes met mine.
'I know how to hide.' He teased me.
'Do you know how to be safe?' I asked.
'That is where I come in.' Valkyrie moved to the boys side.
