The food was nearly gone. Xan and Pan were back to their eradicate ways, bowling each other over, scurrying over people, anything to get laughs. Tents were being set up. I looked upon them all, my brothers, my followers.
Too my immense shock, I saw Wynlin. That wasn't the surprise. The shock came when I saw the man who held him so tenderly in long thick arms, lift his head. Breaking their passionate kiss, I gazed at the adoration, in the former general's eyes. He looked just as surprised as I did, with the kiss. Karshden gazed down at the man looking up at him. I couldn't see Wynlin's face, but I was sure my old friend, was smirking.
I turned away. To tired to care about anything happening around me. Cordgi slipped his free arm around my waist. He held the baby still. A boy. He had informed me that it was King Fockrene's other son. Ammedidon had a twin. The thought of which, disgusted the older boy. He didn't want to think about what the witch had done to both of them.
"You do know, you didn't answer my question." I told him, pulling him tighter to my side.
"No matter where you go, from this day to the day we enter the neither, I will be at your side. If you wish us to bind ourselves in marriage, then I will be the happiest man to ever step foot on this ground." Cordgi stated.
I smiled. Dipping my head, I raised his chin. Our lips met. It was soft, just a touch, an intimate connection between lovers. I drew back.
"I shall ask..." I paused. I was going to pick Shea, but there were so many who could join us together. Zelzada, Andromeda, Shea, Riley, Olympia... the list stretched long in my mind.
"Choose whomever you think fit, but it won't be either of your fathers. For they will walk at my side, to give me to you." He insisted.
"They would be honored." I sighed, to tired to move.
"Can we sleep here?" I asked.
"We have your tent set up, my King." The general of the Ice dragons, Mirah informed me.
I sighed they could be helpful. Pulling myself up, Cordgi rose with me.
"Lead the way." I offered.
Smartly he spun around. Cordgi giggled at my side. We walked, about a foot or two behind the general. Cordgi still carried the child. So this was Ammedidon's brother, his twin. Yet he felt no connection to the babe. Fine, we could raise him, just as my parents took me in so long ago. I pulled the white cloth back to see the chubby pinked faced boy.
He had a shock of dark rich black hair. In a way it did look like mine. When he blinked I caught a glimpse of startling emerald eyes, just like Cordgi. It was almost as if this child was made to be ours. I smiled down at him.
"Not even twenty, and I'm a father." I whispered.
"You were a father the day you hatched your first egg! What are you on about?" Cordgi snickered at my side.
"What are you naming him?" I asked.
"I haven't decided yet." Cordgi whispered.
"Yeah, let's sleep on it." I said, punctuating this with a huge yawn. The child copied it. Cordgi laughed at that.
"Yes, it was a long night." He agreed.
There was a large blue white flowing tent set up in the center of smaller tents. Those closest to the center one were deep rich blue. They faded to lighter shades until the outer ones were white. I wondered if the colors meant anything. Too tired to even want to ask, I ducked inside the large tent. Mirah held the flap back.
Cordgi and the baby came in next. Tanwen was curled in a tight ball on a soft looking bed. She looked cold. I stripped out of my dirty, smoke, sweaty shirt. There was a water basin on the far side of the tent. I pulled off my torn blood stained pants as I made my way to it. The cold water touched my skin, I shivered.
