"If you won't kill a dragon, than the dragons protecting you will." Wics stood as tall as ever, which was far shorter than me.

His eyes blazed with a burning desire to be the true brother we saw each other as. I could only stare. How could I possibly take on the mantel of Prince of dragons, while I kill those that opposed me? That wasn't the reign I wished to have.

I lowered my gaze. "Do as you see fit." I said turning away.

What I saw next had my heart pounding. Cordgi! His back was to us. The broad shirtless glow of his pale skin was washed in the fading light. He held his sword up, slightly back so that his fists, which were closed around the hilt, were beside his head. The large leader hadn't been taken down. He pawed at the ground like some wild beast. Even Neffy was taken aback by his Nuare still fighting.

The man charged the dusty headed rider. Cordgi stood bravely between us and the threat bearing down upon him. I watched as the sword in his hand spewed more water. It was like a living mass. But could just water kill?

I didn't think about what to do. My power came readily to me. I blasted the water blade, freezing it to harden ice shards. As Cordgi swung the heavy handle, the man seemed to enlongate his neck. The sharp point I had created upon the weapon, cut at the man's flesh.

We all saw the blood drew across his cheek. Yet, Cordgi wasn't finished. He moved as if he had meant for this to be his kill shot from the beginning. He twisted his body. The momentum of the first attack sending him in a spiral. He was even closer to the animalistic man. Cordgi ducked a wild swing of the beast man's arm.

His ice sword flashed upward. I was astounded to see the broken tip, now coated in blood and slime, protrude from the back of the man's throat. Cordgi was slightly bent as his muscles bulged to give force to back up the blade. The man fell forward. His body dropped to kneel beside my lover. I saw the blood splatter marring Cordgi's body. Was that why he removed the cloak?

"CORDGI!" I bellowed his name.

He lifted his head. His face was clear of any gunk from the kill. He must have turned away before the fatal blow. He smiled at me. Nothing could hold me in place any longer. I rushed to catch him in my arms. He had to release his hold on the hilt of his weapon as I picked him up.

"Zyn, I'm filthy!" He cried snickering.

"You're beautiful!" I insisted. My mouth found his. The kiss was sweeter than any victory I could have won.

"I'm strong enough to watch your back now." Cordgi beamed at me as his arms wound around my neck.

"I never doubted that you weren't." I informed him.

He drew back to see the truth shinning in my face. I was proud. Proud of him. Proud to have him in my life. Proud to be the one he chose to walk beside. I kissed him again.

"I'm glad you found your strength, for yourself." I whispered in his ear.

"I'm glad I fell in love with you." He told me as he clung to my shoulders.

By this time the others had reached us. We were spread out pretty far. We broke into groups to search the dead. We found some money, food, some supplies we could use such as bowls and canisters. Yet there weapons were far inferior to ours. We left them standing impeded in the dirt.

We decided to walk until nightfall to make camp. We were lucky that we did. We reached an open cave just before it got to dark to see much. Ammedidon offered to search the cave for us. Attroxia placed a hand on his shoulder.

"You have done plenty today. Why don't you rest." With that he led the way in. Wics followed close behind him. Bran glanced around, snorted, then went inside with the dragons.
