The next morning, Cordgi made sure I ate before I walked up to the prison cells. The dragons were in one while their Nuare's were in the other. I ignored the knights, even if several called my name. My eyes saw four bodies huddled close to the bars of the dragons cell. One separated from the others. He stepped forward, a small smile on his face as he came to press his hand through the bar.
"It's is strange seeing you so huge. You were such a small little runt. You and that Earth dragon you clung to. He was a fiery one." The fire dragon smirked.
"Still is. He is still around." I stated. I paused before reaching his outstretched hand.
"What went wrong, Kardiff?" I asked.
His flame orange and yellow hair was a mass of waves upon his head. It rained down past his bare shoulders to end just before his butt. His chest was muscled if scared here and there. I saw the way he kept his right arm held against his body. I worried that he had been injured. He sighed moving the arm out. I saw a long cut there. It had been poorly treated.
"Did you not tell any one?" I demanded. He shook his head. The dried blood sprinkled the ground as it flaked off.
I turned away. Walking to where there was clean water I took the scarf from my neck. A small hand stopped me. A clean rag was thrust into it. I looked down Xyan stood there, a grin on her face.
"I tried to get them to show me their wounds, but they have refused to talk to anyone. All they asked for was you." She offered.
"Follow me." I sighed. She lifted a heavy bag to her shoulder. I took it from her as we went back to the cages.
"You always did love the animals the best." A cold voice broke into my thoughts. I turned my head.
A knight with short stylish blond hair stood looking at me. He didn't bother to come to close to the bars. The distance he kept told me more about him than I cared to know. I huffed.
"Gulaion, still as rude as ever." I snorted. He huffed.
I noticed he wore no pelts. His shirt was streaked with sweat, his leggings clung to his legs, forming around his well endowed manhood as he watched me. He was good looking if you liked the arrogant sort.
"Do what you will to see, I don't want to be in this army any longer. I defect. Kill me, send me to those mines, anything would be better than how they treat us. Treat our bond mates." He growled.
"You still see them as inferior to you." I huffed turning to leave him be.
"NO!" his bark stopped me. His intense hazel eyes held me in place as his breathing quickened.
"Ansel is far better than me. He wouldn't succumb to the king..." Gulaion lowered his head. "Not the way I did." He barely spoke above a whisper.
"There is something that has changed in you." I hesitated.
Should I trust him? He had put me through so much as a child. Kicking me from the second story balcony, laughing as I broke my arm while trying to rescue a trapped dragon, telling me how I smelled since I slept with beasts... the list went on. I laughed as something else came to mind.
"You know, you were right about one thing back then." I said.
He lifted his eyes, a tiny smirk touched his lips. "Yeah, what was that?" he asked.
"I wouldn't get a wife smelling like dragon all the time." I offered. He looked puzzled.
"My boyfriend wouldn't approve of any wife, I'm sure." I snickered walking away. I heard his laugh following me.
