We actually had our day packed full of classes and I wondered if we could even meet our parents at three in Hogsmeade. Malfoy had Quidditch practice this afternoon too.

The first two periods we had potions with professor Slugface, eh Slughorn. We had to hand in our homework on the Amortentia potion that we were going to brew this morning. I was sitting next to Marie and the recent object of my lust, was sitting across the room with Goyle. We weren't allowed to be near each other anymore in class, which was of course excruciating and terribly unfair.

"Amortentia -as most of you know-, is a love potion." Said professor Slughorn as he held up a vial with a pearly substance in it. "It will not create actual love, as that is impossible, what it will do is cause a powerful infatuation or obsession. Therefore, it is a very dangerous potion and you must absolutely never give it to anyone. Instead you will document what the potion smells like to you, and do research on what the effects are, should you be given this potion. After that you will empty your cauldron immediately. Your homework for next week will be to write an essay about Amortentia."

Marie was looking excited, I was not really looking forward to brewing potions today as dread kept reminding me of my impending doom this afternoon.

"Mr Malfoy." Said Slughorn sternly. I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at my betrothed on the other side of the dungeon. "This time, write your homework yourself if you don't want detention."

Malfoy paled and a few students started snickering at him. I grinned as well because, come on, I warned him.

"My students, the potion's preparation is on page twenty of your books, let the brewing commence!" continued professor Slughorn.

Everyone started to move around in the classroom. I opened my book to page twenty and checked the ingredients for the potion:

· 6 Rose petals
· 8 Rose thorns
· 2 Ashwinder eggs
· 100g powdered moonstone
· 2 sprigs of peppermint
· 50g pearl dust.

I already had most of the ingredients as we needed to buy this at the beginning of the year. The ingredients you didn't have would be provided by Slughorn, such as sprigs of peppermint and roses.

With my book in my hand I walked over to the ingredient table and started to collect what extra ingredients I needed for the potion. I was one of the last students to get ingredients and to my disappointment there weren't any roses left. I was about to ask professor Slughorn if he had any more until there appeared a red one in front of my face.

"For you." Said someone behind the rose. I glanced around it and saw that Malfoy was offering it to me. I blushed and took it from him, he merely smirked and walked back to his table. He was looking too smug for his own good sometimes.

I rolled my eyes and went back to my table. Marie was already busy with the de-thorning of the roses. In the book it said powdered moonstone, I accidentally bought regular moonstones so it meant I had to hammer these to bits. Great.

I got my wand out and pointed it at one of my moonstones.

"Expulso!" I said and with an explosion the moonstone launched itself from the table and crashed down, perfectly intact.

"Miss Avery what the devil are you doing? This is not charms class!" Said professor Slughorn as he came over.

"Deletrius!" I said pointing my wand at the rotten thing again. Now the moonstone completely disintegrated to dust which made me smile as I thought it worked. Until it disappeared. "Blast!" I said. "I'm sorry professor I accidentally bought regular moonstones."
