When I woke up again I was in the hospital wing. The beds around me were filled with a lot of other students, mostly first years. I never had seen so many students in the hospital wing at once. Draco was sitting next to me, his head resting on the bed. He was fast asleep, I remembered that he said that he hadn't slept a wink last night. He must've been tired.
I stared at his handsome face, the light was casting shadows on his cheek from his eyelashes. He was so good-looking it hurt.
Speaking of being hurt...
I felt the knives in my throat climbing towards my mouth and I started to cough violently. Draco woke up with a start and looked at me in concern.
"MADAM POMFREY!" he yelled and within a minute the school's nurse appeared at my bedside. She looked irritated at Draco's outburst but softened her gaze when she saw me sitting up.
"Dear, please try to calm yourself." She muttered annoyed towards Draco. "Here drink this." She added as he poured a dark liquid in to a glass from out of a potion bottle and handed it to me. I took it from her, drinking the thick liquid that resembled molasses.
"Drink it slowly, it's quite thick." She said. "It's a lung clearing potion, it will relieve the pain and heal your lungs."
"Her lungs?" asked Draco. "What's wrong with them?"
"She has a very bad case of the flu." Said madam Pomfrey matter-of-factly. "Nothing I can't heal."
"Is that potion dangerous?" asked Draco as he narrowed his eyes at her.
"Merlin's beard why would I give her something dangerous?!" she said indignant.
"She's with child." Stated Draco darkly. "You are sure this will not hurt our child?"
Madam Pomfrey suddenly paled and stared horrified at me.
What was it with people being horrified about my pregnancy! Get a grip people!
I stopped sipping the potion and looked warily at her.
"You are pregnant?" she asked. "Have you been for regular check-ups?"
"A bit hard when you're on the run." I said with a scowl. "Is this safe or not?!"
"Yes it is." She said as she narrowed her eyes at me. "Finish drinking that potion, then I'll check on your condition."
I finished drinking the liquid and it soothed my throat and chest immediately. It wasn't very tasty but then again, medicine never was.
Madam Pomfrey cast a diagnostic spell over my body. There was a beam of light protruding out of the tip of her wand, no not a light, it was a chart. She was carefully reading it, but at some point her face darkened. Above my stomach was a small orb of light that flickered now and then.
"Do you have difficulties with your magic?" she asked me seriously and I slowly nodded at her.
"Why?" asked Draco as he narrowed his eyes at her. "What's wrong with her?"
"It seems the child is siphoning her magic and life force." She said. "It certainly explains why she became so gravely ill from something common as the flu. Has someone cast a dark spell on you while pregnant?"
I thought for a moment, back to our time at Hogwarts, my own house, the manor... The Dark Lord threatening to kill me and then imperiousing me.
"Y-yes." I said horrified as the blood drained from my face.
"Which curse?" she asked. "Was it the cruciatus?"
"No the imperius curse." I muttered. Draco suddenly grabbed my hand and squeezed it painfully as he kept staring at the nurse in horror. Afraid that she might doom us all.
