"Let's take these coats off first." Said Draco as he walked up to me and helped me out of my fur coat. He pulled his wand out of the lining in his own and aimed it at the wet hairy heap on the floor. "Exaresco." He said and within a second the water evaporated from the coat and it looked warm and poofy.
He then aimed his wand at me and repeated the drying charm before doing it to himself. At least we were dry again which I appreciated enormously. I walked to the small bathroom that only had a toilet and a shower, but it was enough for us. We were only here for a night anyway.
I looked in the mirror and saw a ghostly face looking back at me, as if I'd become a faded frail memory of myself. My skin was pale, my eyes and cheeks hollow. I looked as if I hadn't eaten for weeks, which was partly true because most of the nutrients probably went to the baby.
I looked like the living dead.
I pinched my cheeks to make them a little rosier, at least I could pretend I was a little healthier.
"Are you ready?" asked Draco as he was leaning on the doorframe of the bathroom. I sheepishly looked at him, did he see me pinch my own cheeks? He must think I'm an idiot for doing that. I blushed and he smirked at me.
He did see me doing it!
"Yeah." I said as I ran my hands down the long black dress. Even if it was slightly 'modernised' it was still a hideous thing that I would never wear. "Do I look weird?" I asked.
"You look fine." He said with a small smile, there were lights dancing in his eyes and I scowled at him. "Let's go downstairs."
I nodded and got my wand out of my coat. I pushed it down in to the front of my dress, resting it between my breasts. Luckily for me, the dress had a high neckline, so I could hide it in there.
Draco pushed his wand in the pocket of the black pants he was wearing. He was so lucky he had a more suitable place to hide it. I was a bit jealous but also knew that we couldn't switch clothes, well... we could, but I was sure he wouldn't agree. Bastard. I would love to see him in a dress.
We both walked downstairs, back in to the bar with the overweight barkeep and the drunk muggles at the bar. When the barkeep saw us he raised his eyebrows but didn't say anything. We sat down at a small round dining table in a dark corner of the bar, the barkeep had disappeared through a door that probably contained the kitchen. Draco held my hand under the table and smiled at me.
"It's going to be alright." He said, but I knew he only said it to reassure me. I knew that things were very dangerous and could go vehemently wrong at any given moment. If the Dark Lord knew where we were, that I was still alive and that Draco disobeyed his orders, we would immediately die.
Suddenly Draco grabbed his left forearm and gritted his teeth. He let out a small hiss and looked away from me out of the window. His Dark Mark, it was squirming on his arm again, the Dark Lord was summoning him. Draco tried to ignore it with all his might and he paled considerably.
"Are ye alright laddie?" asked the barkeep as he walked up to us with two bowls of soup. Draco looked at the man and tried to calm himself down, drops of sweat were on his forehead.
"I'm fine." He managed to say with a forced chuckle. "Just stubbed my toe really hard."
"Aye, those tables do that." Nodded the barkeep. "Rotten auld things."
He placed the bowls of soup in front of us.
"Noo, the scran is on the hoose, as is breakfast t'morrow." He continued as he eyed us both. "I ne'er do this sort of thing ye ken, but I see the lassie is lookin' a bit peely-wally. I dinnae want to be a murderer, so, eat up."
