The following morning was no different. On the breakfast table, you didn't even glance at the food, you just turned the pages of the newspaper in a nervous fashion seemingly searching for some special news.

And when it was time, you abruptly got up and approached the door hastily, to leave.

"Shuuya!" I scurried to follow you.

You stopped.

"Aren't you forgetting something?"

I turned you around and kissed you softly,

"Whatever it is that's eating at your heart, I am sure you can solve it in no time. " I left these words for you as our lips parted from each other.

"I don't know, Kira. This time it's bigger than all of us. " You answered.

You left me wondering with this little hint. What could it be? What could be so dire that it became a thief of your joy and peace in such a short period of time. It pained me to see you this way. I had to find out who or what did this to you, no matter what.

I tried to ask you a few more times but you wouldn't budge. You told me you had to keep it a secret or you would get in trouble so I had to stop asking.

You became busier than before. You came home late almost every day and often with a headache. When this happened I made you rest your head on my lap and massaged your head. You closed your eyes and let out a sigh of exhaustion every time.

You didn't speak a word and neither did I. Sometimes, it seemed like you slipped into deep thoughts, perhaps about your work and often your eyebrows twitched and knitted into a frown.

"Please stop thinking about it now. " I insisted as I ran my fingers through your hair gently.

"I am trying but I can't help it. What if I fail this time?"

I let there be a pause of silence and then answered,

"I trust you, Shuuya. "

You opened your eyes and looked towards me. I smiled to back up my words. I hoped you could understand how much I meant every word of encouragement I said to you. I didn't say it because that's what I was supposed to say. I said it because as far as I was concerned, it was the truth.

The crease on your forehead finally relaxed followed by a faint smile on your lips and I sighed in relief knowing I was getting through to you.
