Do you remember the summer that followed? That is one of the most memorable times I ever had with you. Every day I found you waiting for me outside of my house and then we'd run away to some adventure in the city. We went to the amusement park where I screamed at the roller coaster and then pretended I wasn't scared all over again, the riverbank where you tried to teach me how to play soccer and I kept kicking the ball in the river instead, that one abandoned house where we pretended to be ghost hunters even if it was broad daylight, the Inazuma tower where we'd go to take a break at the end of the day watching the sunset and rewinding what we had done that day and then finally walking home eagerly waiting for another adventure the next day.
One day, as usual, you were waiting for me outside my house at the supposed time. I came running from the inside and before you could say anything I held your hand, accompanied with a fleeting "hey" and made you run with me. I could tell you were baffled but I didn't have time to stop. While running you asked,
"Where are we going?"
"Treasure hunting."
"What?I thought we were..."
"Yeah, we're not doing that anymore."
"Ok, but where's the map?"
"In my mind."
"But why are we running?"
"Because I might forget soon."
"Oh Kira..." I could tell if you could have facepalmed you would have.
We stopped at the riverbank first. It was morning and we found Endou practicing some new move. As soon as he saw us he waved excitedly,
"Good morning Gouenji!Good Morning Riye!Come, let's play soccer!" He yelled from the distance.
We waved back but before you could say anything I answered him, "I'm sorry but we are on a schedule right now, but in the evening definitely."
"Okay!" He answered and resumed playing while we ran once again.
"So far we're on time." I murmured to myself but you heard me.
"On time for what?" Your confusion was rising once again.
"This is exactly how it happened."
"When?Where?Kira?" You asked everything at once but I answered none.
"Just wait okay!I can't answer all these questions or else I will forget where we are supposed to go next. "
We were now in the market. I looked around and headed towards the bookstore. We were both panting from all the running, I a lot more than you since I wasn't used to doing such extreme physical activity. Just then we saw Kidou walking towards us. He didn't notice us until he was about to bump into us because he was looking at the book in his hand.
"Hey there." You said finally getting him to look at us.
"Oh hi, Gouenji and Riye." He jolted out of his trance. My eyes fell on the book in his hand and he noticed, "You would really like this book, Riye. Look." He handed me the book but I couldn't look at it for long.
"I would really love to know more about it but we are on a schedule right now. Tomorrow definitely." I informed him politely.
"Umm...alright." He said and walked away, waving us goodbye without turning.
As soon as he left the adventure was resumed. Soon, we reached near Rairaiken, the noodle shop which was one of our favorite hangout spots. The sun was overhead at this point we could feel its wrath directly onto us. I wiped my face with my handkerchief and looked around while you looked at me with a lost expression. My eyes widened in eagerness when I saw Aki and Haruna coming from the opposite direction. They were chattering between themselves but as soon as they saw us they came over to greet us.
"What are you two doing here?" Aki asked and Haruna added, "Another date?" They both giggled.
"Well...no...I mean yes...not really...kind of..." I stuttered while you looked away.
"We get it." Aki smiled.
"Tell her about what happened just now!" Haruna suddenly chimed in.
"Oh yes! You will not believe it, Kira, it was so funny..." Aki began but I had to cut her off,
"I'm really intrigued but we are on a schedule right now, I will call you today definitely. Tell me then." I politely spoke.
"No problem!" She smiled and both of them continued the conversation between themselves while we continued our journey.
We were now walking towards the Inazuma steel tower. We had slowed down because it was a hot day and we were tired now.
"You know, you're acting really weird today." You commented.
"It's fun to be weird sometimes." Was my reply.
"Can't argue with that logic." You said sarcastically and I chuckled in response.
Ten minutes later, we found ourselves near the steel tower. I rushed to the place where Endou always practiced and started looking around,
"Aww, it's not here." I sulked.
"What? What was supposed to be here?" You questioned.
"Last night I had a dream that you and I were on an adventure. We walked through the city while each of our friends gave us a hint to further our adventure. In the end, we reached here to find a chest full of..."
"Gold.I get it but..."
"No!A chest full of candy!" I practically yelled with enthusiasm.
"WHAT?!" Your eyes widened, "And you thought it was real??Is that why we have been running around town all day?"
"I know it was just a dream but I thought what's the harm in trying? You never know what might happen." I shrugged, looking at you sheepishly.
You stood there unmoving for a couple of seconds. I prepared myself to apologize for making you run around pointlessly. I thought I had angered you and anticipated reproach.
You then burst into laughter spontaneously.
"Come here." You called me closer to you and threw your arm across my shoulders, "You're still so immature, Kira. Who would believe we are about to start Senior High soon!"
"Well get used to this 'cos that's just how I am," I replied nonchalantly and gave you a kiss on your cheek.
"This may have been fun but it was also very tiring." I sighed with exhaustion and flopped down under the shade of a giant tree. You sat beside me and I rested my head on your shoulder while you rested yours on top of my head. The cold breeze combined with the hot summer day made us drowsy causing us to drift to sleep.
When we woke up the sun had almost drowned behind the horizon. I stood up dusting my clothes. I looked at my watch and panicked,
"Oh no! We promised Endou we would meet him at the Riverbank. He must be waiting for us. Shuuya, hurry up!"
You then casually got up seeming to be in no hurry and unbothered by my rush,
"Relax Kira. He's used to me being late. We have got all the time in the world."
It was my turn to facepalm as we leisurely strolled back to the Riverbank.
