The first week of the school was hectic. Adjusting to a new school takes time but support from my new friends helped me manage. I had become good friends with everyone on the soccer team and I went to watch their matches every other day at the Riverbank. Sometimes you walked me home but we rarely ever spoke much. By now I had realized that that's just how you were with everyone. I liked it. I was not much of a conversationalist either and I find it easy to be around similar people. Then one day we did have a conversation.

It was the third week since I joined Raimon and one day after returning from school I changed into my regular clothes and went out to the market. Dad's birthday was coming up and I wanted to buy a nice gift for him. After looking around in several shops I finally found something I thought he'd really like and content with my choice I was about to head home. As I turned around,I saw you walking in my direction. You were wearing an orange hoodie with grey stripes. I thought orange was such a loud color to wear since I mostly wore black. Later on I found out you loved warm colors.

I looked at you and smiled. You responded the same way. I asked where you were headed and you said to see your younger sister.

"You have a younger sister? Can I meet her?" I asked with delight.

"Maybe some other time." Your expression changed to a serious one and your eyes lost some of their sparkle as you replied.

"What's wrong?"I asked in a concerned voice.

"She's in the hospital. She's been in a coma for an year." You told me with some melancholy. I gasped a little. Now I understood why were you in the hospital that day. Even though I didn't know her, it broke my heart to think about it.

"How did this happen?" I tried to find out more.

"It was a road accident." Was your answer.

"I'm sorry. Your parents must be so worried." I attempted to provide some consolation.

"My mom passed away when we were young but yah dad is quite worried even though he tries to keep his mind off of it by keeping himself busy." You replied.

"Oh I didn't know that...." My voice trailed off to silence because I didn't know what I could say that would make you feel better; but believe me I wanted to. I couldn't imagine what was it like to live without a mother since I was so close to mine. I thought about how lonely it must get for you and I wished I could do something about it.

" I am sure your sister will be ok." I finally said with a reassuring smile.

You nodded, giving a faint smile in return and I felt better thinking that my hopeful words had gotten to you.
