Becky POV
As I sat in Freen's condo, I couldn't help but notice the excessive brightness from the numerous lights that illuminated the place. The air was filled with the scent of candles, giving the atmosphere an oddly romantic vibe, which felt out of place for just lunch. My mind raced with curiosity and wariness.
While I was lost in my thoughts, the dishes suddenly appeared in front of me, indicating that Freen had finished cooking. "I hope you don't mind Italian cuisine; it's my favorite and the quickest to prepare," Freen said, bringing me back to reality.
I was impressed by her culinary skills. "Wow, she totally has a knack for cooking," I thought, admiring her handiwork.
Deciding to lend a hand, I attempted to locate the cutlery. In my quest, Freen unexpectedly appeared behind me, causing me to jump. She gently pressed me against the kitchen island. "What are you doing? You don't have to do anything, and besides, you're a guest here," Freen said, her proximity closing in, likely intending to tease me.
Feeling flustered by her closeness, I managed to escape her grasp, my cheeks burning with embarrassment. "She's such a tease," I thought, quickly moving away from Freen. The peculiar atmosphere in the condo only added to my confusion and discomfort, leaving me wondering what Freen's intentions truly were.
Freen couldn't help but smile as she observed Becky sitting across from her, engrossed in enjoying the meal she had prepared. The way Becky ate was endearing to Freen, and she found herself charmed by her date's genuine enthusiasm for the food.
As Becky took another mouthful of pasta, she suddenly asked, "Is there something on my face?" Her cheeks were slightly puffed from the food she was chewing.
Freen chuckled softly, appreciating Becky's straightforwardness. "No, nothing at all," she reassured her with a warm smile.
With that, they continued to eat in comfortable silence, the initial awkwardness from their previous encounters gradually fading away. As they shared a meal together, Freen found herself growing more at ease with Becky, and she hoped that this date might lead to a genuine connection between them.
Becky POV
After we finished eating, I knew I couldn't postpone the inevitable any longer. For the sake of my cousin, Irin, and to prevent anyone from getting hurt, especially Freen, I had to come clean and put an end to this arrangement.
"Freen, actually, what I told you at the restaurant is the truth," I began, my voice trembling with nervousness. "I'm really not interested in you, and, well, I already have a partner. The reason I'm telling you this is to cancel this arrangement date. You're pretty, rich, and charismatic; you'll surely find someone better than me."
I watched Freen closely, her expression shifting as she processed my words. She let out a deep sigh, and frustration seemed to wash over her. "So, Nop is your partner?" she asked, her tone heavy.
I hesitated for a moment but ultimately decided to be honest. "Yes, Nop is my partner, and I hope you can respect my decision," I replied, already preparing to leave.
But Freen reached out and held me back, her eyes filled with hope. "Then, can we just be friends?" she asked, her voice soft and hopeful.
My heart ached as I considered her request. I felt guilty for lying to Freen, and I knew I had to put an end to this charade. "Freen, please don't make this any harder for me," I thought, struggling with my emotions.
"I'm afraid that we won't meet each other again," I finally admitted, my voice quivering. "I'll be studying abroad, so this will be our last meeting. I'm sorry, Freen." With that, I slowly turned and left Freen alone, my heart heavy with the weight of the truth I had just revealed.
Freen POV
As I watched Irin's happy demeanor after her confession, a deep sadness settled within me. This was the sting of rejection, a feeling I hadn't experienced before. "So, this is what rejection feels like," I thought, my heart heavy as I observed Irin, seemingly blissful and carefree.
"Are you that happy for our last encounter?" I mused, my eyes following her down the corridor, wondering who she was calling with such excitement. My curiosity piqued, I decided to observe from a distance.
Once Irin finally made it home, I received a call from my secretary. Expecting it to be work-related, I answered, only to be met with surprising news. "Miss Freen, I've gathered information about Irin, and it might surprise you," my secretary said.
Listening intently, I ended the call, my mind swirling with a mix of emotions. "You think you can fool me that way, Irin?" I whispered, my anger simmering beneath the surface. "I won't let you go, no matter who you are. Once you start playing the game, you have to continue, regardless of the circumstances." A bitter laugh escaped me as I realized they had both made a fool out of me. Determination hardened in my eyes; I wouldn't allow them to escape unscathed.
