"I said, why are you pretending like you didn't feel it!! You felt it, didn't you?? Our soulmark, my energy!! So why are you acting like you didn't? Are you not gonna ask about this?! I'm your soul–"
"I did. I felt it, that's undeniable by now. But there is a reason why I'm ignoring it, ignoring you." Tetsuya said, somehow the last sentence left a pang in his chest.
Daiki narrowed his eyes on him, "Why then?"
The shadow witch stared at the storm witch, holding an eye contact with neither of them not wanting to back down.
They're strangers, Tetsuya knew that. They don't know each other, they don't even know their names (except for Daiki, he already knew but Tetsuya doesn't). But somehow...
"Because I don't want a soulmate."
Somehow that hurted him. Even though he's the one who blurted it out. He wanted soulmates, he wanted to know the feeling of having caring people beside you. However, that's not always the case. He has reasons.
And his soulmate in front of him is a cop for god sake, if he found out that he's a shadow witch, then for sure he'll get arrested.
Daiki was silent as soon as Tetsuya said that. Right, why is he getting mad over this when he's on the same case.
He, too, didn't want any more soulmates.
Curse the soulmark and their instincts.
"Oh..ok..right, sorry, should've been obvious by now." Daiki broke the silence.
"May I be honest with you?" Tetsuya asks, Daiki stilled, waiting for him to say anything.
"I have..another Three soulmates that I don't know who. I don't know if you all are connected, but it'll be nicer if you are. Maybe then you can live without me." He said softly
Oh right, he doesn't know huh? Well it's time to put a stop on this then.
"I know. Those three that you've already met are also my soulmates. They're my soulmates and we belong in one coven." Daiki looked at him piercingly, and Tetsuya got the message.
"And we plan on not chasing you either. You said you don't want soulmates right? Well there's another two that you haven't met, It'll be better if you didn't. Because we too don't want another one." Ah how firm.
So there's another two. Tetsuya thought
Tetsuya said it first, that he doesn't want soulmates, but hearing them already talking it out and really won't go after him really hurts. Though this is for the better, Tetsuya guesses.
"Right. I can do that. I'll try to avoid them. That was my plan in the first place." Yeah, this is for the better.
Daiki feels a little bad, but it's not like either of them wanted more soulmates right? Now that he's the first one to talk about this with him, a settlement is already made. Neither side wanted to have a new person entering their lives. Both of them can agree to that.
"Now that we've agreed to this, I have to go now, my duty is not yet done. Don't cause any more trouble." Daiki stood from where he's crouching, leaving a little cramp on his thighs, why was he on the ground anyways?
"Okay, thank you again for saving me earlier.." Tetsuya muttered, watching as Daiki left.
He can taste a shot of bitterness on his tongue, somehow the mutual understanding between them makes him sad, but it's for the better. He tells himself that.
He stayed there on the bench for a while, the sun is about to set down. Standing up,he threw the empty plastic bottle that was given to him in the trash. He should head back to the inn.
