Denji held in his tears as he sat in the waiting room with his siblings and Quanxi, waiting for any news about your health. He couldn't cry now, he had to be strong!

He was concerned for his older brother though. There was an emptiness in Aki's eyes that held immense guilt and grief. Denji suspected it was because he was the closest one to you when you got shot, but he couldn't be too sure.

Power firmly believed you would end up alright. You were a nice person after all, and bad things shouldn't happen to nice people.

"He'll be fine. (Y/n) always bounces back from bad situations,"
Quanxi tried her best to comfort the children, though her best wasn't that good. She didn't want kids for a reason, but still, if you did end up dying, she'd take them in.

"Damnit! He can't die, not yet!"
Kishibe hit his fist on his legs as he sat down with the kids and Quanxi in the hospital.

Despite her better judgement, Quanxi decided to bring Kishibe with her to the hospital. Part of it was because she wasn't sure she'd be able to deal with three sad children by herself, and another part of it was because she knew that Aki looked up to him.

Any support was welcome.

"How could something like this even happen?! This town has like, no crime! And to him of all people?"
The man seethed with anger.

"Talking about it won't do anything. All we can do now is wait and hope for the best,"

She stood up and looked at the children expectantly,
"Let's go,"

The looked at her confused.

"What'dya mean, go?! We have to stay, he might wake up!"
Power argued.

Quanxi sighed,
"The doctors said that he probably won't wake up today, and I'm sure if he was awake, he'd want his children to get some sleep. Now let's go,"

They knew they wouldn't be able to win against the older woman, and followed her to her expensive car.

Though it was a daunting challenge, the three of them managed to fall asleep that night, drowning with worry.

Aki laughed as you and him walked through the snow. Everything was covered in a pristine white, it was beautiful.

At some point he got the bright idea to have a little snowball fight, and threw a snowball at you.

It hit you squarely on the stomach.

"Dad? What's wrong?"
He asked. He'd never seen such a horrified expression on your face before.

Suddenly the snow disappeared, and the powdery white on your stomach turned into a bright crimson which bloomed onto your clothes.

"D-dad?"

He woke up with tears in his eyes, grief weighing down his heart.

If you died, he wouldn't know what he'd do with himself.

Would he even be able to look his siblings in the eye, knowing that he took away the one adult who showed them kindness.

He prayed to any and every god out there that you'd be fine.

"I want hot cocoa,"
Power demanded to the older woman.

"Then make some,"
Quanxi stated as if it was the obvious answer.

"I don't know how to! And dad said I wasn't allowed to yet!"
The little girl explained.

Quanxi sighed and went to the kitchen with your daughter, searching for the instant hot cocoa packets you'd bought in bulk.

She squinted at the instructions,
"Pour one packet of hot cocoa mix into 16 ounces of hot milk or water..."

She opened your fridge and pulled out a [carton/jug/bag (if you're weird)] of milk, pouring it into a pot without measuring.

She heated it up and added the cocoa, mixing it up before pouring it into a mug.

"Here you go, little miss,"
She handed the mug to the little girl, who took a sip once it'd cooled.

"This doesn't taste right!"
She complained.

Denji who'd overheard this came over and took a sip as well.

"Dad makes it differently, that's why! He usually uses milk and water. I know because he let me help him make it once,"
He recounted that last part fondly, remembering how it made him feel like he was really becoming a man (somehow).

"Well how was I supposed to know that?"
Quanxi snapped, and she quickly regretted the tone she used as the two children's faces morphed into sadness.

"I miss dad!"
Power cried.

Denji hugged her,
"Me too!"

Aki heard this all from his room, and hugged his knees to his chest even tighter as he took deep breaths, trying to remain calm.

He did this to them.

Eventually everyone calmed down, and they tried to go about their days as best as they could, trying to ignore the fact you might die.

"And then this guy with a sword summoned this huge fox thingy to eat it whole!"

"Your dreams are wild man. Anyways, has the patient been responsive?"

Both nurses looked down at you.

"Not for a bit. Vital signs are good though, should wake up within the next twelve hours,"

Immediately after one of the nurses said that, you lunged foreword, gasping loudly as you sat up.

"WHERE'S AKI?!"
