Loud footsteps woke you up from your beauty sleep, and you watched as your door slowly opened, and your children walked in.
Power carried a large foldable standing tray, Denji carried a carton of orange juice that was much to heavy for him, and carried some candles and pillows.
"Surprise!"
Power exclaimed as she set the tray over your lap.
"Kids? What's all this?
"We made you breakfast!"
Denji said happily.
The room went silent as he unscrewed the cap off the carton, preparing to pour it into a glass.
"Hey hey, you need some help, Denji?"
"No! I got this!"
He said confidently.
Thankfully he managed to fill your cup with minimum spillage and a proud look on his face.
Once he'd done that, Aki placed the candles on the tray, and put the pillows around you so the three of them could relax comfortably with you in the bed.
You looked down at your breakfast.
Burnt toast, yogurt, and gum.
How delectable.
You managed to eat all the food, not wanting to disappoint your children.
"How was it, dad?"
Power asked with hope in her eyes.
"It was delicious, five stars!"
You said while hugging all of them.
"But you should leave the breakfast making to your dad,"
You added, not wanting to repeat this until they'd learned some cooking skills.
The kids snuggled up with you under the blankets after you set the tray on the ground, and the four of you slept like that for an hour or two before their stomachs started to rumble.
They all knew how lucky they were to have you be their dad, especially Denji who knew what a bad parent could be like, and suffered through the worst of what mankind could offer.
A year ago he would've been sleeping in a cold room with trash all around him, his only comfort being Pochita.
But now he had you to give him lots of warm hugs and to keep him safe, making sure no more bad men would try and harm him.
You gave them all a kiss on their heads before shutting your eyes and getting some much needed rest.

"Hey Aki! Can I come in please?"
Denji called from outside his brother's door.
Aki sighed,
"Fine,"
Denji and Power both entered Aki's room, approaching him at his desk.
"Whatcha doin?"
Power asked while her and her brother went on their toes to peek at Aki's activity.
"I'm making my letter to Santa,"
"Who's Santa? Is he an alien? I wanna take his UFO!"
"Santa's a magical fat man who gives kids presents on Christmas!"
Denji explained.
He wasn't too sure about the realness of Santa considering he'd never gotten a Christmas gift before, but then again, he never wrote to Santa, so how could he have known what he would want?
"Presents?! I wanna write a letter too!"
Power exclaimed before running out of the room to find you.
"Dad! Help me make a letter for Santa!"
She ran up to you holding a pen and paper.
"Me too!"
Denji added, also bringing supplies with him.
"Is it December already? Okay then, sit next to me and we can get started,"
The two children sat on either side of you, watching intently as you started writing out their letters.
Dear Santa,
For Christmas this year I would like...
"I want a hammer!"
"I want a toy car, and can you ask him to get toys for Pochita too?"
You wrote down their requests and finished up the letter, folding it up and putting it in an envelope.
"When Aki goes to send his letter, we'll send this one too,"
They nodded happily, imagining the presents they'd receive on Christmas Day.
"You have to be good, or else Santa will put you on the naughty list and you won't get presents,"
Aki informed them of this stipulation while handing you his letter.
Aki didn't believe in Santa. It's pretty hard to believe in anything when your whole family dies, but you still wished to reignite the childhood wonder deep inside of him.
"That's right, you two need to be kind to others so Santa knows to put you on the nice list,"
You lectured.
"That means eating all your veggies,"
Aki added, taking delight in Power's shocked expression.
"I'll do it! For the presents!"
She declared, raising a fist in the air.
Of course you'd be buying the three of them presents no matter how they acted, but it'd be nice to see them being extra kind this month.

Out of your children, Denji was by far the most dependent on you. Although Aki was your first child, he'd already been with you for years, and was at that age where children think independence is cool. As for Power, she was always a strong girl who wouldn't really need you for comfort unless she was having a particularly bad day.
If Denji wasn't playing with Power or Aki, him and Pochita would be with you.
He'd sit down on the couch with you while you watched your dramas, with either his whole body or his head laying down in your lap.
If you were cooking or baking, he'd be there to watch, wanting to be just like you.
He was also the child who spent the most nights in your room, his frequent nightmares usually being the cause.
He'd spent so much of his life looking over his shoulder, always having his defenses up. It was nice to not have to worry about being hurt. He liked being pampered by you, and loved having you as his father.
If he could, he'd spend all his time hugging you, but that wasn't really possible.
His favorite thing is when you'd all spend time together, watching TV with your blankets, everyone huddled together.
He was so happy to finally have a family, and so were you.
Though you didn't really like doing laundry for three other people too much.
