Chapter 35 - Konoha Attacked

Naruto had gone to train at Mount Myoboku and Lord Fukasuka had promised me and Lady Tsunade his safety while he was away. I still couldn't help but feel uneasy as the days went by but I knew that he would be in good hands.

"Good morning," I heard Kakashi whisper as I felt his arms wrap around me.

"Morning," I replied quietly, enjoying his warm embrace.

I couldn't help but move closer, burying my face in his chest. I felt him hum softly in response.

"We need to get up," he mumbled, still half asleep.

"In a little bit, it's still early," I replied.

He squeezed me a little tighter and both of us laid there together. I listened to the sound of his breathing and couldn't help but feel happy. I considered myself fortunate to find love with the man who I had loved for years. Fortunate that both of us had stayed safe through so many years and that we were here together.

"Ok, now we really do need to get up," Kakashi said as he pulled his arms back.

He slowly rolled off his side of the bed, sitting up. He stretched and let out a deep breath. I couldn't help but notice the ANBU tattoo on his arm, remembering the sting of it when I had gotten my own.

"Come on, we can't lay in bed all day," Kakashi said, amused.

I threw a pillow at him in response, to which he caught with ease. He gave me one of his famous smiles, his eyes turning into crescents.

"Come on," he said again as he placed the pillow back down to its place.

I groaned before I also rolled off the bed as Kakashi continued to smile at me. I rolled my eyes playfully.

"Go put on a shirt," I told him as I opened the closet.

"You don't like the view?" Kakashi teased.

"I swear I'll smother you in your sleep one day, Hatake," I replied back, my cheeks burning slightly.

He only grinned in response. When I had slept over at his house, Kakashi definitely had worn both a shirt and pants to sleep. However, after we had moved in together, he somehow lost the sleep shirt and only wore loose but somewhat fitted pants to sleep. It wasn't like I was complaining though. He was extremely fit, something that the standard uniform didn't show. I couldn't help but blush every time he caught me staring at him.

"Any requests for breakfast?" Kakashi asked as he opened the door to the bedroom.

"Nope," I responded as I got out my own uniform.

He hummed in response before leaving the room and going down the stairs. I quickly changed out of my sleep clothes and into my dress, securing my weapon pouch. I grabbed out Kakashi's uniform before laying it down on the bed so that he could change into it with ease. I smiled happily. I really was lucky.

"Do you have any plans for the day?" Kakashi asked me as he and I both put on our shoes.

"I may visit Kurenai and see how she's doing and how her pregnancy is going," I replied as he helped me up. "What about you?"

"I'm thinking of doing a walk around the village, just to make sure everything is alright," Kakashi told me.

Before he opened the door, he pulled down his mask and planted a quick kiss on my lips. I couldn't help but smile as he pulled the mask back up and opened the door, allowing for me to go first.

"I'll see you tonight," I told him after he had locked the door. "I love you."

"Stay safe," he responded, cupping my cheek in his hand. "I love you too."
