Kakashi
Where was she? I scanned the area around me and still didn't see any sign of her. Was Miyuki alright? I couldn't help but regret not going with her earlier. I ran through the village, helping the injured get to the hospital to get treated. As I was looking for more injured, I heard a familiar voice and approached. It was Iruka, standing over an injured Konoha shinobi. In front of him was an orange haired man wearing the Akatsuki cloak. So it's him. I closed my non-sharingan eye to look at the one who must be master Jiraiya's old student. Before I could examine him or the situation, a metal object formed in his hands and he lunged it towards Iruka. I immediately jumped down from the roof the building, landing between them. I grabbed the metal rod before it made impact, stopping it from moving closer to him.
"Kakashi..." Iruka said, in shock.
"Get the injured out of here. Leave this to me" I told him, one hand in my pocket and the other holding the metal rod, still looking at the Akatsuki member with my sharingan.
"Yes... Right away..." Iruka said as he quickly picked up the injured man and left.
I looked at the Akatsuki member, Pain, with both of my eyes, breaking the metal rod and taking a few steps back.
"Now it's just the two of us," I said, my eyes narrowed.
"Then I'll ask you instead. Where is the nine tails?" He asked.
"What you're doing is pointless. You'll soon learn that the people here are different from other villages. Even if it means dying, there's not a single one of us that would ever sell out a comrade."
Miyuki
I couldn't help but cough as the smoke filled my lungs. A nearby building had exploded, leaving flames and heavy gray smoke. I looked around, trying to see if there were any survivors only to see a hand, the rest of the body buried. I turned away, flinching at the sight.
"Miyuki!"
I turned to see Choza, who stood with Choji and a few other Leaf shinobi.
"We're headed towards the most recent explosion," Choza told me as Choji helped me up to the roof top that they were standing.
"I'll come too," I said to them, trying to catch my breath.
"No, you recover here and then help look for the injured. There's no reason to overexert yourself," Choza said, but I couldn't help but feel that his words had a deeper meaning.
"If you think I can't handle something like this because of what happened years ago..." I began only for Choza to cut me off.
"We don't have time for this conversation right now. We need to get those that are injured to the hospital to get treated. Please, this is the best thing you can do right now. If you overexert yourself, you can end up injured too. Save the energy that you have," Choza told me.
I nodded before I watched the group head off towards the large explosion. I couldn't help but shake the feeling that I should have gone with them but I knew that they would be alright with an entire team. I decided to go in the opposite direction, searching for survivors.
"Miyuki, over here!"
I noticed Iruka struggling to carry the injured ninja. I rushed over to them.
"What happened?" I asked him as I helped support the man and the two of us began to quickly take him to the hospital.
"One of them attacked us. An orange haired man wearing the Akatsuki cloak. I would have died too, if Kakashi hadn't stopped him," Iruka said in between huffs.
