Chapter 17 - The Nine Tails

I ran as fast as I could to the cave Minato had told me about. Kushina had been taken there to give birth as the seal keeping the nine tails would be significantly weakened. Once I arrived, I froze. The ANBU who were stationed outside were dead. Impossible! It didn't even look like they had been able to put up a fight. I took my attention away from them and quickly ran into the cave. What was going on? This location was supposed to be top secret. When I entered, I saw a masked man holding my new sibling, my baby brother, with a kunai pointed right at him.

"Miyuki! Stand back!" Dad yelled.

He was holding mom up, supporting her. The masked man turned to look at me and a chill went down my spine. What was this terrible feeling of familiarity? I quickly took out the sword from my back and aimed for his head, only to go right through him. 

"What?" I asked in disbelief.

"You missed," he told me.

He started to bring the kunai closer to the baby's throat.

"Stop!" Kushina shrieked.

The masked man began to take a few steps towards them and I immediately blocked his path, holding the sword in front of me. However, when he got close, I lunged at the baby in his arms only for him to repel me straight into a wall. Pain exploded throughout my body and I coughed up blood. 

"How cruel to put your own daughter in the ANBU," the masked man stated. "Making her do your dirty work like a dog."

I bit my lip as I stood back up. I pulled out one of the special kunais Minato had given me. He had taught me how to use Hiraishin no Jutsu, the Flying Raijin Jutsu the second Hokage had created. While I wasn't as fast as he was, if needed, I could teleport my parents away and come back to get my new sibling. However, the masked man suddenly threw the boy. Dad reacted faster than I could, leaving Kushina's side to grab the baby. As soon as he did though, the masked man appeared behind mom and held her shoulder, disappearing with her.

"Mom!" I yelled just as she was taken.

"Miyuki run! There's paper bombs on the blanket!"

I gave dad a horrified look, however, he threw the blanket off of the baby and quickly teleported. I followed his lead, teleporting away just as the bombs detonated. I teleported to the same location as dad and he quickly handed me the child.

"Stay here with him, I'll bring Kushina back," he instructed before disappearing again.

I stared down at the baby. He's so tiny, I thought as I cradled him. Just like dad had promised, he soon teleported back with mom in his arms. She was extremely weak. He carried her to a bed in the corner of the room and I brought the baby to her, placing him besides her head.

"He's so tiny," mom whispered, as tears began to flow from her eyes.

I heard dad putting on his cloak and turned to him, grabbing the ANBU mask I had clipped to my hip earlier.

"I'll be right back," he told us.

"Good luck," mom told him weakly.

I placed the mask on my faced and watched as he teleported. Before I could follow suit, mom called to me.

"Your brother's name... What do you think of Naruto?" She asked me, breathing heavily.

"I think it's a wonderful name," I told her.

"Be careful," she whispered.

I teleported after dad and saw him just as the nine tails appeared before us. I couldn't help but take a step back in fear. That's how big a tailed beast was? Dad fell to one knee, breathing heavily. I scanned the area for the masked man but I couldn't sense his chakra anywhere. Was his goal to let the nine tails rampage in our village?
