Miyuki
This was impossible. The one who should have died, Kakuzu, stood in front of us, five masks each having come from his body. One of them crumpled to the ground as we all watched in surprise and horror.
"Let's go with the usual," Kakuzu told his partner.
Hidan simply grinned before lunging himself at Kakashi, who blocked every attack. However, that's when I noticed one of the mask figures fly behind Hidan and land a wind release attack on both him and Kakashi. It was powerful enough to also blow through the area surrounding everyone and I tried my best to stay standing, hoping to see Kakashi somewhere.
"Kakashi sensei!" Choji yelled as he also struggled to keep his balance.
As soon as the wind stopped blowing, I noticed one of the mask figures behind Kakuzu move. My eyes widened, realizing what the Akatsuki member planned to do. The mask started to charge up a powerful lightening attack and I ran to Shikamaru and Choji, hoping to block the attack in time.
"Run!" Ino screamed as she began to ran towards us.
Just as the mask released its lightening attack, I pushed Shikamaru and Choji, shoving them as hard as I could behind me. I turned towards the lightening in front of me. There was no way to block it, I would get hit. I braced myself, however, a figure jumped in front of me and blocked the attack. Kakashi. He was alright, other than the fact that his green vest was gone, probably torn to shreds from the wind release attack. I heard him struggling to block the attack with his bare hands.
"What're you doing, you'll get hurt!" I yelled.
"You're weak against lightening release, if this hit you, you could have died," he grunted out as the lightening began to disperse.
When the attack had disappeared, I saw Kakashi stumble a few steps and quickly stood behind him, making sure that he regained his balance. He muttered a quick thanks before all of us turned our attention back to the two in front of us.
"You're the first one we didn't kill with that combo," Hidan remarked with a smirk.
"It seems you read through it with your sharingan," Kakazu added.
All of us were on edge and I glanced to see that Shikamaru still looked exhausted from overexerting himself earlier. This was bad. I turned my attention to the masks in front of me and noticed one with red markings had opened its mouth.
"Move!" Kakashi yelled at everyone just as a large fire ball came out of the mask's mouth.
All of us scattered, trying to escape the flames unscathed. I watched as the members of Asuma's team all landed somewhat safely. I turned to look for Kakashi, who was near me. I saw a shadow above me and saw a red scythe, its blades quickly coming down towards me. I grabbed a kunai, blocking it and wincing at the strength behind the large blade. Hidan grinned, his eyes crazed. He swung again, this time the top blade making contact with my clothes, ripping the sleeve. Fortunately, he hadn't managed to draw blood. As soon as I landed on the ground, Hidan continued to attack, only for Kakashi to step in.
"I'm your opponent," Kakashi snarled as the two men began to fight.
"Miyuki sensei!" Ino called as she and the two boys ran towards me.
Kakashi landed in front of us, his face full of anger as Hidan landed near Kakuzu, grinning again. I grit my teeth. I wanted to wipe the grin off of his face.
"Miyuki," Kakashi said quietly.
"I know," I replied as I weaved my hand signs.
The most I could do now was buy time for everyone to regain their chakra and energy.
"Shoton, Hasho Koryu!"
Two large blue crystal dragons appeared in front of me. They set their eyes on the two Akatsuki members in front of us.
"What the hell?!" I heard Hidan yell.
The dragons split, each taking one criminal to attack. While they were occupied, I weaved my next set of signs.
"Kessho no Yoroi!"
Crystal armor formed all across my body. Unlike my other attacks, the crystal armor was transparent. It was barely visible, only giving itself away when light reflected off of it at the right angle. With it, I quickly ran and attacked Kakuzu as Hidan was busy screaming curses and running away from the crystal dragon. I brought my leg up to kick at his head, only for him to block it with his hands. The crystal dragon that had been going after him joined the other, chasing the silver haired criminal.
"So you're her. The daughter of the legendary Yellow Flash and the crystal release user," Kakazu stated as he continued to block my attacks.
"What about it?" I snapped.
"You have a pretty bounty on your head, just like the other one from Konoha," Kakuzu told me as he attacked.
I managed to dodge, landing a little bit away from him. A bounty? He must have me confused with someone else. There was no way I could be in the bingo book, I had disappeared for so long! I shook my head, focusing on the task in front of me. The bingo book was something I could worry about later. I was preparing to do another set of hand signs when his hand suddenly detached from his arm and grabbed me. His fingers wrapped around my throat, holding tightly as he slowly pulled me closer to him. I grabbed his hand, desperately trying to pry his fingers off.
"The collection office only needs to see the body as proof, they don't need the heart. Your heart will serve me nicely," He said once I was close to him.
His hand squeezed my neck harder and I heard something crack. My crystal armor had been broken to shards by his grasp. I could see black begin to tint my vision as my body screamed for oxygen. Please... Dad... Mom... Help me.
Kakashi
I felt anger surge through my body as I watched the Akatsuki member strangle Miyuki. Before I could even process what I was doing, I ran at him, my eyes narrowed. As I got closer, I could hear her struggling to breath.
"Kakashi sensei! Behind you!"
I turned just in time to dodge an attack from Hidan. I turned to look at Miyuki, who began to go limp. This was bad.
"I'm your opponent!" Hidan said, excitement lacing his voice as he swung his weapon at me again.
I jumped back, putting some distance between us, still glancing at Miyuki. The hands that had been desperately clawing at Kakuzu's began to fall slowly.
"Miyuki!" I yelled. "Don't stop fighting!"
I didn't get a response and I felt fear replace my anger. I saw Hidan coming at me again, however, before he could swing his weapon down, he appeared to freeze.
"This damn jutsu...!" I heard him grumble as I looked behind him.
Shikamaru was breathing heavily, his shadow tightly holding onto Hidan's.
"Go, Kakashi sensei!"
I turned and ran toward Kakuzu who had his arm up, pointed right above Miyuki's heart. I heard a few shuriken flying past me and turned my head to see Ino, who had thrown them at Kakuzu. With him distracted, I continued to quickly run towards him. Once I had reached him, I threw several paper bombs attached to kunais, forcing him to jump away. In the process, he lost his grip on Miyuki and dropped her. Before she could hit the ground and before the paper bombs exploded, I grabbed her and quickly ran to where the others were. She was unresponsive and I felt my heart begin to sink. Was I too late?
"Let me help her" Ino said quickly as I set Miyuki on the floor.
I was able to clearly see the dark bruises beginning to form around her neck and clenched my fists. First they kill Asuma and now, one of them tried to kill Miyuki. Shikamaru fell to his knees next to me, breathing heavily. He was exhausted. I turned to face the two criminals in front of me, hatred, fear, and anger bubbling inside of me.
"Let's finish this."
