Miyuki

I walked through Konoha, staring down. I could still see their faces and hear their screams. The first night after I returned, I had woke up screaming from a nightmare. Minato had to run in and stay with me until I calmed down enough to fall back asleep, only for the same pattern to continue.

"Miyuki?"

I turned to look at the owner of the familiar voice. Kakashi.

"Oh, hey," I greeted softly.

His eyes were scanning my face. I was sure that the lack of sleep was visible but he seemed to sense that there was something else.

"Do you want to go get lunch?" He asked.

I didn't respond right away as I was tempted to decline his offer. However, when I heard the echos of the screams, I immediately accepted. We walked towards Ichiraku where Teuchi was wiping the counter. We sat down and ordered our food which Teuchi immediately began to prepare.

"So, why'd you want to get lunch today?" I asked Kakashi.

"No particular reason," he responded with a shrug.

I couldn't help but sigh. I was too tired to argue or press the matter further.

"I heard about where you were for the past two days," he said suddenly.

"And?" I asked him, looking over at the boy.

"Nothing, I just wanted to see if you were alright," he responded, meeting my gaze.

Both of us stared at each other, neither wanting to break off first. Something about Kakashi was calming but unnerving. I looked away first.

"I'm fine."

Before Kakashi had a chance to respond, Teuchi brought our food. I watched as Kakashi stared at the soup and I let out another sigh, this time of frustration. I turned to face him and placed one hand on his knee to avoid losing balance as I leaned in closer to him. I could feel him stiffen but I continued anyways. I hooked one of my fingers in his mask and swiftly pulled it down, causing the boy to lean away from me, startled.

"W-What are you doing?!" He asked, shocked.

"I helped you," I replied before fully sitting back into my chair.

He remained silent but slowly picked up his chopsticks to begin eating. I couldn't help but have a small smile on my face as I watched him out of the corner of my eye.

"How've you been Miyuki?" Teuchi asked me breaking the silence and my focus on the white haired boy.

"I've been good," I lied.

I continued eating while talking to Teuchi as Kakashi remained silent and stoic next to me. It wasn't until Teuchi talked to him that he seemed to break out of the trance he was in.

"So Kakashi, my boy. Are you out on a date with Miyuki?"

Kakashi choked, his eyes wide. He coughed and shook his head quickly.

"Of course not!" He said between coughs.

"What a shame. Miyuki's such a sweet girl you know, if you treat her right," Teuchi started until I cut him off, my mouth forcing a smile.

"Can I have the bill now?"

Kakashi and I walked around the village together after leaving Ichiraku. While there were still awkward silences between us, there was still a little bit of conversation. As we walked, we stopped by a few stores, peering at the items. Kakashi had found a weapon store he liked and stared at the sharp blades in front of him. On the other hand, I was across the street looking at a silver heart necklace that seemed to glisten in the sunlight.
