Miyuki
"I'll see you in a little bit," I told Kakashi quietly, taking my eyes away from Naruto's training session.
"Where are you going?" Kakashi asked.
"Kurenai asked me to come over. She said she has something to tell me," I replied.
"Alright," Kakashi responded as I began to walk past him.
I felt him place a hand on my shoulder, causing me to smile a bit. However, as I continued walking, the hand fell off. I began to walk back to the village, humming quietly to myself. I was lost in my thoughts and before I knew it, I was at Kurenai's door. She opened it as soon as I knocked with a wide smile on her face.
"Come in!" She said, opening the door wide.
I stepped inside and noticed Asuma sitting on the couch, also with a smile.
"Hey," he greeted.
"Hi?" I said back, questioning why I had been called.
Kurenai motioned for me to have a seat and I did, looking back and forth between the two jonin. They both looked at each other before looking at me.
"So, how's everything with Kakashi?" Asuma asked me.
I instantly knew Kurenai had told him and turned my eye to the younger woman who looked away.
"It's good," I replied.
Asuma smirked. "Oh yeah? Just good?"
Before I could respond, Kurenai slapped his arm hard. The man whimpered.
"We have something we want to tell you but we don't want it to be known yet. Only us and you," Kurenai said, excitedly.
"Alright?" I replied, curious as to what they wanted to say.
"I'm pregnant."
I blinked a few times. Did I just hear Kurenai right? I looked over to Asuma who had a big smile on his face, confirming the news. I stood up and instantly went to hug her.
"Congratulations you two!" I squealed as she hugged me back.
"Thank you!" Kurenai exclaimed.
I let her go to look at them. "Are you two planning to get married too?"
"We want to soon, but for now, we still want to keep our relationship a secret," Asuma said.
A secret? Almost everyone in the village knew that they were together and they didn't do a good job to hide their relationship either. I respected their decision though, as Kakashi and I had also chosen to keep our relationship quiet.
"Alright, I got it."
Later That Evening
"So, you are back."
I didn't have to turn to see who it was to know the owner of the voice. Danzo.
"Lord Danzo, good evening," I greeted, putting on a fake smile.
"It took you long enough to return," he said. "After all, running away is only what coward's do and I did not help you so that you could become one."
I grit my teeth. Help me? Was he serious?
"Some of my Root members told me that you haven't really been at your old house, instead, you've been staying with Kakashi. I guess you're still afraid, aren't you?" Danzo asked, almost sneering.
"You have someone keep tabs on me, Danzo?" I asked in response, dropping the formalities.
"Of course, after all, I can't have you leaving the village again and taking the gift I've given you with you," he responded simply.
"Are you threatening to have me killed if I leave again?"
Danzo smiled in response. "Of course not, how could you ever think that?"
I didn't know how to respond. It was like he made me so angry that my mind went blank.
"Don't forget, I have eyes everywhere, Miyuki," he said, his voice low as he walked past me.
I didn't respond as I heard his footsteps fade away. I felt myself clenching my fists. I tried to take a few deep breaths before continuing forward, going back to where Naruto had been training earlier. When I got closer, I saw Naruto sleeping on the ground, Yamato with dark circles, and Kakashi reading his Icha Icha book. I walked over quietly to Kakashi and Yamato.
"Why's Naruto sleeping on the floor?" I whispered.
"He's too tired to continue but refuses to go home," Kakashi whispered back.
"Because of him we all have to stay out here," Yamato whined.
I walked over to Naruto with a frown on my face and attempted to pick him up. As I was struggling to lift him up, I decided to try to pull him up onto my back so I could give him a piggy back ride back to his home. He was in deep sleep as he didn't even stir once. When I was finally able to get him up, I walked over to the two men.
"Come on, training's done," I told the two of them.
Yamato flashed me a grateful look as Kakashi put his book away.
"I can carry him," Kakashi said reaching out.
"No, I can do it," I replied. "Just show me where he lives."
The three of us walked back to the village with Yamato heading home as soon as we got to the village gates. Kakashi led the way to Naruto's house, both of us silent. I had to readjust Naruto a few times so he wouldn't fall or drag his feet, however, he didn't wake up once. This kid really is a heavy sleeper, I thought.
"It's right up there," Kakashi told me, pointing to the building.
I nodded and we continued walking, both of us silent again. The only thing to fill the air this time was the sound of Naruto's snores. Once we had reached Naruto's door, Kakashi found the spare key and let the three of us in. It was cleaner than I thought, aside from the piles of clothes on the floor. That's when I got to the kitchen and noticed the empty cup ramens. Was that all this kid ate? Kakashi led me towards the direction of Naruto's room and I gently plopped Naruto on his bed. I thought he had woken up as we were walking out when he suddenly yelled rasengan, however, he quickly went back to snoring. Was he dreaming about fighting? Kakashi and I slowly closed the door, only hearing a small click when it locked. Both of us stepped into the night after.
What did Kurenai have to tell you?" Kakashi asked as we walked back to his house.
"It's a secret," I responded, smiling at him.
"Oh come on," Kakashi whined.
I simply laughed, patting him on the head as the two of us walked through the village. I couldn't help but hear Danzo's words echoing in my mind and turned my head to look around me. Was he really having his Root members keep tabs on me?
"What are you looking at?" Kakashi questioned, noting my gaze.
"Nothing," I replied, only for him to cock his head in response.
I shrugged and the two of us continued forward. I couldn't help but get the sense that someone was indeed watching and turned again but just like before, no one was there. I was really going crazy as I still couldn't shake off the feeling that someone's eyes were on me constantly. I shivered before Kakashi and I continued back to his house, scanning the area again while he unlocked the door. It all had to be my paranoid imagination, right?
