Miyuki

"Hey, Miyuki! Wait for me!"

I turned around to see Rin Nohara running towards me with a big smile on her face. I looked at her curiously, wondering what the reason could be for her smile.

"Tomorrow's the day! Are you excited?" She asked once she caught up to me.

"What's tomorrow?" I asked in return, still clueless to what she was referring to.

"Tomorrow's the day we take our graduation exams from the academy and we get put on teams!" She reminded me, laughing.

"Oh yeah! I completely forgot," I responded, laughing at how I could have forgotten a big event.

I saw Kakashi and Obito close behind us, probably also returning to their homes. Rin waved at Kakashi but he only continued walking, looking straight ahead. Obito waved back though, he always did. I felt sympathetic towards Obito as I knew Rin only had eyes for Kakashi but Obito loved her. I made a small face, a love triangle seemed complicated. I could only hope that I would never be caught in a situation like that.

"Miyuki."

I turned back around to see my dad, Minato Namikaze, waving me over. I said a quick goodbye to Rin before running over to him.

"How was the academy today?" He asked me as we walked back home together.

"It was great! Rin just reminded me that we get to move up to genin tomorrow!" I told him, excitement lacing my voice.

He smiled. "Who's team do you want to be on?"

"I want to be on your team!" I squealed, causing him to chuckle.

"They probably won't put you on my team," He pointed out.

I couldn't help but pout. He was right. The instructors wouldn't want the others to feel as though I was getting special treatment. But one could hope that by some miracle, they would place me on his team. My pouting was interrupted when I saw Kushina standing outside of the house, waving happily at the both of us.

"Mom!" I yelled happily before running over to her.

Minato jogged next to me and being the competitive kid I was, I tried to run faster than he could. He smiled realizing what I was trying to and picked up his pace. I tripped as I tried to outrun him and would have fell if Kushina hadn't caught me.

"Minato..." She said with a warning tone.

He laughed nervously, scratching the back of his head while I ran inside. Tomorrow was a big day, I thought with a happy sigh. I could hear mom yelling at dad outside about not being careful enough and I grinned. I hoped everything would stay this way forever.

Next Day

"Rin Nohara, Kakashi Hatake, Obito Uchiha, and Miyuki Namikaze, will be placed in Team Minato."

I was surprised that I had been placed on my dad's team but I grinned happily as Rin and I made our way to him. He was standing there with the other senseis, mirroring my grin. Realizing that he wasn't surprised, I instantly realized he had known that I would be put on his team when we talked the day before.

"I can't wait to go on missions with this team!" Rin said happily as Kakashi and Obito walked over.

"Same!" I agreed as Kakashi rolled his eyes.

"Alright well since we're all here, let's go start with introductions," Minato started.

"I'm Rin Nohara! It'll be a pleasure working with everyone!" She introduced excitedly.

"I'm Obito Uchiha, I'll be the eyes for this group using my sharingan!" Obito greeted, equally excited.

"Kakashi Hatake," Kakashi said flatly.

"And I'm Miyuki Namikaze!" I exclaimed.

"Alright, well, I'm Minato Namikaze and you'll be my first team of genin students," dad told everyone, looking at them each, probably trying to remember what they looked liked. "Let's head over to a training area."

Rin and Obito ran ahead, both of them giggling and laughing. Minato walked behind them, smiling while shaking his head, leaving me and Kakashi to follow behind the group. Kakashi wouldn't look anywhere else besides straight ahead. He was silent, his face expressionless. I was determined to change his icy demeanor to prevent any rifts within the team.

"Hey Kakashi, are you excited?" I asked him, glancing over at the boy.

"No," he replied.

"Oh come on, don't be so dull. It'll be fun!" I told him, playfully punching his arm which earned me a glare.

"Don't. Touch. Me." He growled.

"Ok ok," I said, holding both my hands up. "I'm sorry."

He didn't say anything more and I decided to run up to my dad, falling into a pace next to him. Minato noticed the change in my mood, he was always quick to understand.

"Don't be so down Miyuki," he told me gently.

"Yeah, I know," I muttered back.

Minato placed a hand on my shoulder with a gentle and knowing smile. "Kakashi will become friendlier but you can't push him. He's going through a hard time right now and we should understand and be patient with him as his team, right?"

"I understand," I replied, wanting to change the subject from the white haired boy.

Minato just ruffled my hair and eventually, we arrived at the training grounds. After a few hours of training, Kushina appeared with a picnic basket full of food. Minato decided to give us a lunch break and all of us sat down in a circle, grabbing a plate. I glanced over at Kakashi, realizing that this was the first time I had seen him with his mask pulled down. I couldn't help but stare at him.

"Hey Miyuki? Earth to Miyuki," Rin said, waving a hand in front of my face.

"Huh?" I asked, startled.

She giggled. "Do you have a crush on Kakashi or something?"

Minato nearly choked on his water while Kushina glanced at the white haired genin. Kakashi only looked right back at me, meeting my surprised eyes. Obito snickered.

"Of course not!" I snapped back, my cheeks heating up. "We're just teammates!"

Rin gave me a knowing look which seemed to mask another expression before turning back to her food. Kushina was coughing, trying to suppress her laughs while Minato glanced back and forth at me and Kakashi. I couldn't help but look at Kakashi again and locked eyes with him. What was hidden behind those dark eyes of his? He broke away first, turning back to look at the empty training grounds in front of us. I couldn't help but look at the floor, wondering if the white haired boy would ever open up to the rest of us.
