"Lily, Lily, listen to this one." Michael laughed loudly, tapping Lily on the shoulder to get her attention.
"Michael." Lily whined, slapping his hand away from her. "I'm tired, stop it."
"But did you know - " Michael was cut off before he could even finish his sentence. They'd been on the plane for only 10 minutes and were still waiting for it to take off, and all Michael had done was tell Lily useless facts about dogs.
"No, I didn't!" Lily snapped, getting tired of listening to these dumb facts. "I don't care either, so shut up!"
"Wow, okay." Michael said softly, sounding a little hurt. Lily just sighed and turned away from Michael, leaning up against the side of the plane.
(Michael's ticket had assigned him to the window seat, but when Lily saw that she freaked out and made Michael switch with her. She needed the window seat. Every time she'd ever been on a plane she'd gotten the window seat, and she wasn't going to give it up just for Michael).
"I'm sorry." Lily mumbled, crossing her arms over her chest. She wasn't really sorry. "I'm just tired."
She really was tired, but Lily wasn't sure why. She'd gotten a lot of sleep the night before, even though she was woken up by Michael a couple times. Lily had also slept when they were in the car on the way to the airport, despite the fact that Michael was very hyper after drinking a large coffee.
"Did I wear you out last night?" Michael leaned in and whispered in her ear, and Lily didn't even have to look up to know that he was smirking.
"Shut. Up." Lily groaned, elbowing Michael in the chest to get him away from her. She was in a very bad mood and didn't need Michael to annoy her and make it even worse.
"Baby, come on." Michael said quietly, rubbing his hand up and down Lily's leg.
Even though it was almost 90 degrees out Lily was wearing a pair of leggings and one of Michael's sweatshirts from college; she woke up that morning and was freezing. Michael kept saying that he was worried about her.
"I don't want to talk right now, please stop." Lily whined, pulling the hood of Michael's sweatshirt up over her head. She just wanted him to stop talking.
"Do you feel alright?" Michael questioned. Lily could hear him unbuckle his seatbelt and move the arm rest up, scooting closer to her. "I think you're getting sick or something, babe, are you - "
"I'm not getting sick." Lily mumbled, shaking her head. "I'm just tired, Michael. Stop talking."
"Okay, I'm sorry, I'll just leave you alone now." Michael sighed, leaning back in his seat.
"Thanks." Lily said harshly, not bothering to look back at Michael. "I'm going to sleep."
"You know, you slept in the car on the way to the airport." Michael said and Lily rolled her eyes. Why did Michael care if she went to sleep or not? This way he could look up facts about stupid dogs on his own.
"I know." Lily nodded, sitting up. She reached down into her purse and got her headphones out. "I also slept last night at the hotel, but you kept waking up to talk on the phone so I'm still tired."
All night Michael had been getting out of bed and going into the bathroom so he could talk on the phone with whoever. Lily could hear him talking, the walls in their room were pretty thin, but she couldn't make out anything that he said. If she didn't know any better she would have suspected Michael of cheating.
"It was work stuff, I'm sorry." Michael apologized again, trying to pull Lily closer to him.
"Yeah, well, it could have waited until morning." Lily snapped at him once again. She moved over more, getting as far away from Michael as possible.
