Lily woke up before Michael the next morning. They'd ended up deciding against getting a hotel room for the night and just went back to Lily's apartment, despite the fact that her parents were home. Michael was pissed off at Lily again for no reason anyway, so they didn't even do anything.

Lily sighed and put her hair up in a bun before getting out of bed and walking across the room. She went into the bathroom and brushed her teeth, making sure that she looked presentable before she actually left the bedroom.

She stopped at the end of the bed and stared at Michael for a few seconds, waiting to see if maybe he'd noticing that Lily wasn't in bed anymore. Of course he hadn't, Michael was still fast asleep and snoring softly, taking all of the blankets and wrapping them around himself.

Lily sighed once more and walked out of the room, heading down the hallway. She hoped that her parents wouldn't be awake, Lily really wasn't in the mood to have an encounter with them this early in the morning.

As Lily entered the kitchen, which was thankfully empty, she heard the front door close quietly and turned around to see Luke walking in, carrying his shoes as if that was going to keep everyone else from hearing him. Luke took a few steps before realizing that Lily was watching him and then stopped, dropping his shoes to the floor with a loud thud.

"Hey." Lily said casually, leaning up against the counter. "Long night?"

"Uh, I guess." Luke said nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Did you finally find a girl that was up to your extremely high model standards?" Lily joked, teasing Luke about how he never wanted to date someone because he was a model and had "high standards".

"I guess. She's cool, not like the girls I normally see." Luke shrugged. He looked Lily up and down noticing that she was wearing nothing but an oversized t-shirt. "Did you have fun last night?"

"Ugh, no." Lily groaned, pouting. "Michael's currently upset with me and is being a little baby. He's giving me the silent treatment."

"Well what did you say to him?" Luke questioned.

"Why do you automatically assume that I said something wrong?" Lily asked, slightly offended. "All I said was that he's a writer who lives in a shitty apartment and I'm New York's richest 21 year old."

"Lily!" Luke scolded her.

"I was just trying to explain that we're different! People are going to have strong opinions about our relationship!" Lily protested, folding her arms over her chest.

"Yeah, I know, and that's very true. Michael doesn't really mix in with the type of people we hang out with." Luke said, lowering his voice. "But I can see why what you said might have hurt his feelings."

"He's just being stubborn." Lily sighed, not thinking much of it. She knew how to get Michael to talk to her again, it wasn't going to be that hard.

"Did Mom and Dad ask about me last night?" Luke asked quietly, his eyes wandering around the room.

"No, they were too busy talking to each other about their next trip to Europe to worry about either of us." Lily rolled her eyes again. "Mom talked to Michael for a few minutes."

"I probably should have told them that I wouldn't be coming home..." Luke trailed off, glancing down at the floor. "I hope they didn't worry."

"I mean, they don't really care. And you're 25, it's not like they're going to constantly watch after you anymore. They don't even watch after me." Lily shrugged, playing with the hem of her shirt.

"I kind of wish they still cared." Luke mumbled softly, still not looking up at Lily.

"There's nothing we can do." Lily said casually, trying not to show Luke that it also hurt her that their parents really didn't care about either of them anymore. "We're old enough to take care of ourselves now."
