Michael knew that it was Valentine's Day. He knew that Lily was probably expecting him to do something big for her. He knew that Lily would probably get upset if he didn't make a big deal about it. Michael just didn't know how he was supposed to make today special.
So he was stalling and pretending that he had no clue that it was Valentine's Day.
"Michael." Lily said, cupping Michael's face in her hands and making him look at her. "Do you have anything planned for tonight?"
"No." Michael shook his head, leaning down again and leaving a few kisses on Lily's neck.
Things between Michael and Lily had been going really well for the last couple weeks. Even though they'd gotten in such a big fight, Michael felt that they were a lot closer now. Lily had opened up more to Michael and he could tell that she was trying to be more understanding about a lot of things.
Lily told Michael that she felt really bad about how she'd been treating him and everyone else lately and she wanted to change. Of course Michael was never going to force her to change how she was, but he did like the idea of her trying to grow up a little. It obviously wasn't just going to happen over night, but Michael could definitely tell that Lily was attempting to change how she acted.
"Wait, really?" Lily chuckled nervously, moving her hand to the back of Michael's neck and pulled him down again.
"Uh, yeah." Michael nodded. His lips trailed down Lily's neck, sucking gently on her collarbone. "Why? Did you want to do anything today?"
It was late morning and Michael insisted that they stayed in bed for now, mostly because he had no idea at all about what they should do, and also because he was too lazy to actually go out and do something. He just needed some time to stall and come up with either a present to give Lily or somewhere to take her.
"Well, I don't know..." Lily said softly. She ran her hands down Michael's chest and grabbed at the bottom of his shirt, tugging it off of him and throwing it onto the floor.
"I thought we were going to stay in bed all day, baby." Michael mumbled against Lily's skin. "I don't have any plans."
"You're just saying that, right?" Lily asked, letting out another nervous laugh. "You're just trying to surprise me?"
Michael looked up at Lily, doing his best to put a confused look on his face. He almost felt bad about lying to Lily, but at the same time he didn't. "Why would I be trying to surprise you?"
"Well, you know..." Lily trailed off. Michael could tell that she didn't want to actually come out and say it, she wanted him to mention something about Valentine's Day first. "You know what day it is, right?"
"It's Saturday." Michael said casually, shrugging again before he began to kiss along Lily's neck.
"Yeah, but like, it's a specific day." Lily laughed softly. "Like, it's a holiday."
"Is it your birthday?" Michael asked jokingly, running his hands up and down Lily's sides. His lips moved from her neck to her chest, which made Lily giggle.
That was one of the many things that Michael really loved about Lily. She was never very loud when they had sex, neither of them were, but she giggled. She always laughed and Michael didn't know if she was nervous or ticklish or what, but he thought it was funny.
"My birthday isn't a holiday, Michael." Lily giggled, running her fingers through Michael's has as he continued to kiss down Lily's body.
"It should be." Michael said, sliding down more so he was almost completely under the covers. He left kisses all over Lily's stomach while she giggled and tugged at his hair.
