Michael agreed to take a mini vacation with Lily the next weekend because he felt so bad about what happened with her the other day.
So Lily researched her little heart out and found some foreign resort that had a beach and a pool and a hot tub and anything else you could imagine. Lily promised that they would only stay for one night, she just needed a chance to work on her tan and show off her new bikini. Michael wasn't complaining.
That's where they were now, both of them sitting on a couple beach chairs. Michael had his laptop with him and was working on revising part of his book, thanks to the hotel and it's free wifi. He was supposed to have a meeting with his agent and publisher and a bunch of other important people next week, and Michael wanted everything to be perfect.
Lily was fidgeting constantly, trying to spend an equal amount of time on each side of her body so her tan was perfect. Michael was doing almost the completely opposite, he was still wearing his shirt because he was afraid that even with an excessive amount of sunscreen he would get burned.
"You know, you're going to get weird tanlines on your arms from wearing your shirt." Lily reminded Michael for the tenth time, tugging on the sleeve of his black t-shirt.
"I'm aware." Michael nodded.
"Just put more sunscreen on and then take your shirt off, you won't get burned." Lily suggested. She messed around with her bathing suit top, which only distracted Michael and made him stare at her boobs.
"I feel more comfortable with my shirt on." Michael shrugged. He squinted at his laptop screen, wishing that the sun would just go away for a while. It would solve a lot of his problems.
"Fine." Lily sighed, tucking her hair behind her ear. She rolled onto her side and then groaned loudly before rolling onto her back again. "I think I want to get a haircut."
"Right now?" Michael questioned, raising an eyebrow at her.
"No, no, when we get back home." Lily giggled, twisting the end of her hair around her finger. Michael finally took his eyes away from his laptop and stared at Lily. She was so beautiful, Michael honestly felt so lucky.
"How short?" Michael asked.
"Um..." Lily trailed off, using her hands to show Michael that she wanted to cut her hair right to her shoulders. That was a pretty big change, considering that Lily's hair currently reached all the way down to her ribs.
"That would look really nice." Michael said. Of course it would look nice, Lily always looked nice no matter what she did. "I kind of like your hair long, though, it's fun to play with."
"Well you can still play with it if it's short." Lily frowned.
"I guess." Michael shrugged, realizing that this was just going to start an argument between them. "I think your hair would look really great if you cut it shorter, babe, do whatever you want."
"Maybe I won't cut it shorter, I don't know. I'm indecisive." Lily said quietly, letting out a sigh. "I'm also hungry."
"We can go get something to eat if you want." Michael offered. He quickly looked back at his laptop screen and then back to Lily.
"Later." Lily said, even though Michael didn't understand why she would want to go get food later when Lily just said that she was hungry. "Are you sure you aren't worried about your shirt giving you awkward tanlines?"
"I'm sure." Michael nodded.
"Okay, fine." Lily shrugged and leaned back in her chair, closing her eyes again.
