LONDON ELISE HARPER,21

May/8/2023

8:25 AM

"Lauren... Lauren!" London shouted her mother's name trying to get her to wake up. But the middle-aged woman lay tirelessly on the couch.

She slept like she had just worked 3 days in a row without getting any rest. "hm? 5 more minutes. Imma get up." She muttered, waving London off before turning on her side.

London sighed,  if Lauren kept acting like this she would be late for work and Kamari would be late for her gymnastics class.

She couldn't understand why the practices were so early, especially during a summer break.

"No, I gotta go to work and Kamari has school. I don't want you in my house by yourself." She huffed, stuffing all of the things she needed into her purse.

"I'm giving you 5 minutes to get ready. C'mon, baby." She said, calling out to the 5-year-old who brushed her teeth in her bathroom.

London was more than uptight this morning, she really didn't want to cater to Lauren once again. She had spent her whole weekend finding and lining up job interviews for Lauren.

She felt like all of this was a waste of time just for Lauren to blow it off again. She knew it was bound to happen.

Because that's the type of shit Lauren did, She was a destroyer. "I dont know how much you want me to say it, I'm sorry London. Please don't act like this." She said, getting up from the couch.

"I don't know what you want me to say. What do you want me to do about that?" London shrugged.

"I want you to give me a chance," Lauren answered.

"Like forgive everything you did because you're hurtin'. You put me and the kids through so much, but because you're sorry it's ok? That's what you're saying?" London scoffed, shaking her head as she put in her earrings.

"I'm not saying that I'm saying everyone deserves a second chance-You had multiple chances to get that shit right."

"You chose men over us constantly. I shouldn't even be doing this." London cut her off, pointing between the two of them.

"You did shit that I would never do as a mother. You're the last person I want my daughter to experience. You're not a good person." She said, her eyes watering as her throat cloaked.

"I'm trying, I-I'm trying to change London. I want to restart. With all of yall-It's too late."

"It's not though, You have a baby girl. I can help you out with her. I'm here now."
