BEFORE THE STAIN ENCOUNTER

Hanako peeped at Tsunade sama over her magazine that she was in the middle of reading.

Sometimes it still felt unbelievable that her mentor was here, since a decade and a half had passed after her rebrith.

Hanako then recalled what Tsunade sama had said to her during the sports festival:

"Because, I know you, Hanako. Your past—your past past, and how it shaped you. I know you never really liked fighting, but—

You were always trying to save lives"

Hanako had almost teared up at that. In her first life, people had called her a murderer for years. Even when she made new friends, she still couldn't take any comfort in it.

She hated herself. She hated that she wasn't working hard for the villagers' sake. It was all for herself. Because fighting was all a ninja like her could do at that point, and she wanted to feel at least a little accomplished.

But Tsunade sama changed all of that.

FIRST LIFE

A young Hanako looked at the woman who sat on the other side of the table skeptically.

Hanako squinted her eyes at the blonde. Tsunade was...not quite as she expected. She looked like a regular drunk, but she radiated some sort of power, something like the power Jiraiya had, for all his stupidity.

There was no doubt about it.

Despite her appearance, Tsunade was a Sannin.

" What's your field?" Hanako blurted out. She had heard all sorts of stories about this mysterious woman, like how she could perform healing miracles.

Hanako didn't think that it was possible, so she wanted to know more, and that was the whole reason why she tagged along with Naruto and Jiraiya in the firat place.

Tsunade raised her eyebrows at her, as if wondering why a quiet girl like her would suddenly speak.

"The Medical field, " she answered lazily.

Hanako blinked. Medical?

After that first encounter, although Hanako was intrigued in Tsunade's profession, she had yet to resolve to learn Medical jutsu.

But that moment would only take a few days to come. It was the day the group encountered Orochimaru and Kabuto.

...

Hanako was scratched up from head to toe. She glared at the man in front of her. He was Orochimaru, the last Sannin, and the man who had killed the Third Hokage.

"Ah shit—Naruto..." she glanced worriedly at the boy who was lying on the ground next to her. He was beaten up more badly than her, thanks to Kabuto, that little... 

Whatever, Kabuto's defeated anyway.

Hanako licked her lips and fiddled her fingers. She had two problems. One, she had to defend herself from Orochimaru's attacks and two, she had to protect Naruto while doing it.

It didn't help that Orochimaru
strong, even if he was seriously injured.

Just at that moment, Orochimaru, with a flick of his fingers, commanded his sword to attack Hanako.
