Valentina
I left the hotel, guilt washing over me. I had done what I promised I wouldn't do and gave into him but the only thing I could hope for was that it would not only shut him up about hooking up again and that it will only be between Danny and I, for Lia to never find out. I could sense it pissed him off after I left, but I had no other choice. If I stayed, it would have only made me feel more guilty.
I sure did not look forward to going back to work on Monday having to face him.
*** Three days later: I woke up at 7 with my mind on Danny. I couldn't stop thinking about him after that night. I knew it was wrong and I shouldn't have any thoughts about him but trying to push the thoughts of him out of my head only made it worse.
I stopped at Starbucks to get a coffee for Micah and me, shocked to see her sitting at her desk. "You're here early."
"You didn't have to get me a coffee."
"I needed one."
"Thank you." She opened her wallet and handed me a ten-dollar bill.
"You don't need to pay me back."
"I insist."
"Well, thank you."
"No, thank you! How was your weekend?"
"It was alright."
"Did you..."
"Yeah."
"How was it?"
"Good."
"Just good?"
"I feel so guilty, Micah."
"It is what it is."
"I'll just be interested how he'll act around me."
"I am sure it'll be fine."
Around 8, employees began to arrive, and I noticed Danny speaking to William in his office. "It's hard to see him, Micah."
"I can understand, but everything will be okay."
I saw him looking at me out of corner of my eye, but I couldn't speak nor even look at him right now. Regardless of how badly I wanted to talk to him, I felt that it would make things worse for me.
