Valentina

Thanks to Micah's help, I was able to find an outfit to wear for dinner, but I found myself having second thoughts. "Oh, he will most definitely love this dress."

"You think so?"

"Absolutely."

"I don't think I can do this, Micah."

"Why?"

"Because he's my boss."

"And?"

"I love him, Micah. I am just scared of what would happen if I told him."

"You do?"

"Yeah."

"I knew it!" Micah said, with a grin on her face.

"But it's Lia, that's stopping me from telling him."

"Fuck her, Val. Your happiness is most important."

"I refuse to be with someone who's married."

"You guys hooked up many times, what changed?"

"Well..."

"Exactly."

"I just don't think I can do it."

"Oh, come on!"

"It just doesn't feel right. He can see Maverick whenever he would like, but I really don't think I can do it."

"So, you are going to just cancel?"

Nodding, I grabbed my phone and sent Danny a text: I know I agreed to having dinner, but it doesn't feel right. I have some things that I would like to confess, but not now. You need to focus on trying to work on your marriage with Lia. You can see our son whenever you would like, but I want nothing more. For now.

"He'll be disappointed."

"So what? That's not my problem."

"You aren't one to cancel plans, Val."

"Yeah, well... I can't do this."

As much as I truly wanted to see Danny, I couldn't do it to Lia. Deep down, I resented Lia for how she has treated me, but it would feel wrong to see Danny again. Although he has every right to see his son, that is the only relationship that I will ever have with him.

Danny

I was beyond pissed knowing that Valentina cancelled our dinner plans for tonight. I called her several times, but it only went to voicemail each time. "Is everything okay?"

"Huh?"

"Oh my god, babe! I wanted to call, and you haven't even listened to me."

"I was."

"Sure, you are. Why do you take forever to call?"

"I work until 7 every day, Lia. You have known that since the day we met."

"Still... it's hard."

"Well, what do you expect me to do?"

"Either leave work sooner or take a few days off."

"No. Absolutely not."

"Your job is more important than your wife?"

"I need to make money somehow, Lia since you sure as hell don't."

"Excuse me?"

"You spend my money on yourself, I don't even know the last time you got your own paycheck."

"That's the problem that you have with me?"

"It just would be nice to have you contribute, Lia. Have fun in Mexico City, you sure aren't missed."

"What?!"

After I hung up, I wished that my wife could be as hard working as Valentina. The girl never took any time off and I wanted an independent woman. Valentina was that girl, and I would nearly kill to do anything just to have a conversation with her right now.
