Danny

Although Val and I had planned to have our wedding take place next year, she chose to make it sooner thanks to Micah and her other friends.

Everything still feels like a dream, yet here I am, looking at myself in the mirror, realizing that I will be married in under an hour. The only thing that has bothered me was the two text messages I had received from Lia.

I knew that she would eventually beg for me to go back to her, but it sure as hell won't ever happen again. I felt that Valentina should know, but I didn't want to ruin our big day just because of a little drama with Lia.

"I can't believe you're getting married, man. You've got to be excited."

I looked at my brother and nodded. "Yeah, I am."

Drew scowled. "You don't look it."

"Sorry, I just have a lot going on in my head right now."

"Like what?"

"Just the whole Lia bullshit."

Drew rolled his eyes. "Don't tell me that you still have feelings for that bitch."

"I don't, but she can't stop pestering me."

"Why is Val not aware of this?"

"Because I didn't want to ruin her big day."

"You mean your big day as a couple? You sure as hell don't sound nor look excited."

"Look, I am, okay?"

"I am not convinced, but you do you."

"I just can't stop thinking about it."

"Look, you're going to be a married man in less than thirty minutes, man. You have to push any thoughts you have of Lia out of your head and focus on Valentina and your children."

"You mean my child?"

"Callie's like your daughter now, Danny."

"Yeah, just feels weird raising a kid who isn't mine."

"If you're so negative about all of this, why are you getting married?"

"Because I love Valentina."

"You act like raising Callie is impossible. Face it, you're 30 years old, act like it."

"Excuse me?"

"Look, I am not trying to fight, man. I just want what's best for my little brother."

"I know you do, and I appreciate it."

"You just don't seem excited to be married or anything."

"I am trying to be."

"Trying?"

"Yeah, I..."

"Danny, it's time."

I looked at my other brother and nodded. "Coming, Don."

Valentina

As Nick took me down the aisle, I looked at Danny, unable to figure out what was on his mind, but he didn't look excited nor enthused to be here right now.

"Hey."

"Hey."

After Danny said I do, I couldn't help but to wonder if he really wanted to be married to me or not. Once the reception started, I went to the bridal suite and changed. To be quite honest, I really didn't look forward to going back. "Val, you okay? You got changed and didn't come back."

"I'm fine."

"Val..."

I looked at Micah and sighed. "He doesn't look happy."

"What do you mean?"

"He just didn't look happy or anything the whole entire time and I feel like he doesn't want to be here."

"Valentina, there's someone here who asked to see you."

"Who?"

Katy shrugged. "She's in the parking lot."

I followed Katy outside and saw Danny standing next to Lia, a scowl plastering her face. "What are you doing here?"

"I can't come to my little sister's wedding?"

"No."

"Well, I was mainly here to ask Danny something."

"What?"

"Why didn't you return my phone call and two messages that I sent?"
