Valentina
I got up around 7 and got dressed, leaving the house quietly to meet Lia at the diner downtown and as always, she was there before me. "Val!"
"Hey."
"You look good."
Raising my eyebrows, I looked down at my leggings, sweatshirt and Converse. "Umm thank you?"
"Sit, please. I ordered you a latte."
"Sounds good to me."
"So, what's going on?"
"So, I got a call from Tom. He said he has a daughter, which he failed to tell me, and I didn't give him the chance to explain and there's another guy I met at a club, and I know he cares about me for whatever reason since I hardly know him. I'm just a big ball of emotions."
"Maybe you should let things go with Tom for a while, so he gets things handled with his wife and spend some time with the other guy."
I shook my head. "I don't know."
"You just have a few guys who have feelings for you."
I laughed. "I guess."
Suddenly, my phone rang, and it was Zayne. "Hello?"
"Hi."
"Everything okay?"
"Everything is great. In fact, I've been thinking about you."
"Oh."
"I want to take you to dinner tonight. Dress nice."
"Oh. Umm okay."
"I'll pick you up at 8, love. Talk later."
"Alright."
Lia looked at me when I hung up and shrugged. "I guess Zayne has a surprise for me."
Lia smiled. "Invest your time in someone who's single, sweetheart. Save yourself the stress."
"You know what? You are absolutely right."
"Of course, I am."
After breakfast, I enjoyed my day off with my kids. Without Danny. But I knew he would be busy later banging Katy at some hotel probably.
*** Hours later: It was approaching 7:45 once I finally finished getting ready. "Where you heading to?" Nick asked.
"Zayne wanted to take me to dinner. I don't know, I guess he has a surprise."
I heard Zayne's truck in the driveway and smiled. "Speaking of the devil."
"See you later, Val."
I went outside and Zayne kissed me. "You look gorgeous."
"Thank you."
"Of course!"
He opened the door for me and drove to Harry Houzen's. "Umm what are we doing here?"
Smirking, he took my hand and went to a table in the VIP section where I saw Micah sitting at the table with her new boyfriend, Mitchell. "What are you doing here?"
Micah smirked. "Not supposed to say."
Zayne pulled a chair out for me and poured red wine in my glass. "Get whatever you want, love."
I looked at the menu and couldn't believe how expensive everything was. "Zayne, this steak costs 50 dollars."
"It's a high-end restaurant, of course things are not cheap. But I thought this was the perfect place to do it."
"Do what?"
"You'll see."
"You know I hate surprises."
"I know, Micah told me."
Dinner dragged on, my mind racing. What does he have planned?
