Valentina

Morning came quickly and Micah and I left before the brothers woke up. "How was last night?"

"I opened up to Antonio."

"Yeah, I did the same. Pablo even offered to come to Austin!"

"So did Antonio."

"I know we barely know them, but it seems more enticing now."

"It does, but will it be something that we could regret?"

"Possibly, but he told me to take my time to think about it."

"You're right. But there's just something about him that attracts me. He seems sweet and..."

"I know what you mean. I don't know what to do."

"We'll figure it out together, Val."

The moment we got to the resort, I saw Tom and Mitchell sitting outside and they scowled at us. "Where the hell were you? I noticed that you weren't in bed when I woke up."

"I was going to ask you the same thing."

"I was in the hotel room with our kids."

"Liar."

"What are you talking about?"

I grabbed my phone and opened the photo. "What is this?"

"Val, I can explain... Mitchell and I were drunk. I wasn't really in the right state of mind."

"How could you do that to me? I trusted you!"

"Val..."

"No. I'm leaving."

"What? You can't. We spent a lot of money for this trip."

I stood up and went over to the closet, grabbing my clothes and folded them in the luggage. "Goodbye, Tom."

"You can't just book a flight last minute."

"Oh, yes we can."

After Micah packed her things, I left a note on all the guest room doors and went to the airport, trying to find a flight back to Austin. "I should've said goodbye to everyone, but I couldn't."

"You'll see them in a few days, girl."

*** Eight hours later: We thankfully found a flight back home and as I was unpacking, I got a call from Tom. "Where are you?"

"Home."

"Why?"

"You know why!"

"Honey, please don't do this to me."

"YOU CHEATED ON ME!"

"It was wrong, I know, and I can't say sorry enough."

"You are not forgiven, Tom. Ever. I thought that you would be different, but I guess that I am wrong."

"I love you."

"Yeah, what you did really truly shows it. I'm finding her on social media by the way and letting her know."

"You wouldn't."

"I will." I went through Tom's Facebook when I saw a girl whose photo looked just like the one with Tom.

I knew it was a bad idea, but I sent her a message anyways:

Valentina: Hello Victoria, you may not know me, but you were with my boyfriend at one of the bars in Cancun a couple nights ago. If you have any details, I'd like them so I can get my story straight. Thanks.

**20 minutes later:

Victoria: um, your boyfriend?

Valentina: yes.

She was calling me via Facebook messenger, and she answered. "Are you serious?

"He said you cheated on him, and he was with me just to get him jealous."

"Nope."

"Oh my god, I am so sorry..."

"I see you have a boyfriend."

"I need to tell him."

"No. Allow me to."

"I don't know. I guess it'd be better if it came from someone else. Message him and call me back."

"I will."

I hung up and went to her boyfriend's page. His name was Jack Thompson.

Valentina: hello, I know you don't know me but I'm Valentina. Your girlfriend was cheating on you with my boyfriend. I hated to have to tell you myself, but Victoria said it'd be best if it came from someone else.

***40 minutes later, he finally messaged me back.

Jack: wow. Well, that's good to know and I must say, you are truly stunning :)

Valentina: Umm thank you.

Jack: Vic was pretty but you?? Wow! Where are you from??

Valentina: Austin, Texas.

Jack: I've always wanted to go to Texas! I'm from Alaska and moved to Long Island 5 years ago.

Valentina: Cool.

Jack: It's too bad we don't live closer, I'd love to get to know you! Text me??? 907-374-1209 :)

I looked at the message and chose not to respond. I did not even know the guy and I had no interest in speaking to him.
