Tom

I patiently waited for Valentina to come out of the building. I had no idea what the hell she was thinking, but I needed to get to the bottom of it.

"Tom..."

Valentina was looking at me with a facial expression that I couldn't quite read. "Can you explain to me what happened last night?"

"I don't know."

"Well, I woke up and you weren't in bed."

"I'm sorry."

"When did you leave?"

"4."

"Why?"

"I just... Everything was happening so quickly, and I didn't give it thought."

"I know. I should've given it thought too, but I was hoping you would've stayed."

"I'm sorry. I just..." Valentina sighed. "With everything that's happened, I am just stressed out."

"I completely understand. Would you like to go to dinner with me tonight? To discuss this?"

"Sure."

"Good. I'll pick you up around 7:30."

"Alright."

"Have a good day, Val."

"You too."

Just as she left, I grabbed her wrist and kissed her. "That will make my day even better."

Valentina smirked. "Likewise."

After Tom left, I went back to my desk and noticed Katy talking to Micah who appeared to look extremely pissed. "Micah? Is everything okay?"

Katy smirked at me. "Everything is fine."

"Don't talk to her. Or me."

Katy laughed. "We can't avoid each other."

"Well, we clearly are doing our best when you aren't up in our business."

"Are you coming to our wedding?"

"Are you kidding me? Why the hell would I consider going to your wedding? Especially after what you guys did."

"He clearly wanted me. Not you."

"Fuck you, Katy."

"Oh, he has. Real good."

Rolling my eyes, I focused on work for the rest of the day until it finally ended. "Are you still getting dinner with Tom?"

"Yeah. I agreed."

Micah smiled. "Have fun!"

"I will."

After we went our separate ways, I drove home and got changed. "Where are you going?"

"Dinner."

"With Tom?"

"Yes. I have a few minutes to spend with the kids."

"Callie and Mav are at Lia's."

"Oh. Okay."

"You'll see them tomorrow."

Once Tom picked me up, we went to the same restaurant as last night. "I know we didn't have a whole lot of time earlier, but I want to talk about some things."

"Such as?"

"I know what has been going on between you and Danny."

I looked at the menu, refusing to make eye contact with him. "Tom, do we have to talk about him?"

"No. But I know how much of a toll it has put on you, and I know you do not have any plans to be involved with anyone which is perfectly fine. I honestly should have given that thought last night, but I really care about you, and I feel that you do not deserve to be treated the way he treated you."

"I stayed for the children."

"I understand, but I am glad that you're cutting him out of your life, or at least trying to."

"Why is that?"

"You can take as long as you'd like to make the decision, but I feel you should quit your job."
