*** Three weeks later: As I sat on the toilet seat with a pregnancy test in my hand, I anxiously waited for the results.
Despite Danny failing to ask if I was on the pill, I could have taken the responsibility to tell him that I was not. I had no choice but to find out for myself. "It scares the hell out of me thinking about the possibility of being pregnant, Micah. I am only 19 and I am in no shape to have a baby."
"I can understand, but maybe your just late for another reason."
"It's been over two weeks, I am never late."
"Maybe this month could be different."
"I want to believe that, but I just have a really bad feeling about this."
"I understand but I am here for you no matter what, Valentina."
"Thanks, Micah. Moment of truth I guess..."
I grabbed the test off of the counter and got the news that I absolutely dreaded: seeing the plus sign made everything real now.
"I assume that you tested positive?"
"I made a huge mistake, Micah and I can't get myself out of this."
"Don't worry about this, okay? I will be here for you and your baby, I promise."
"My brother will be pissed."
"Just don't tell him who the father is."
"I hate lying to Nick but, in this case, I have no choice at the moment."
"When are you going to tell Danny?"
"I... don't know."
"He deserves to know."
"He will probably be pissed at me too. Especially if Lia ever found out."
"First off, I highly doubt that she would find out and second, you never know, Valentina. He may be happy but we have to get back to work before our lunch break ends."
I absolutely dreaded telling Danny, but he deserved to know. When we got back to work, I knocked on his office door. "Come in."
I opened the door and he smiled. "Hey."
"Hey."
"Is everything alright?"
"Not really."
"Why?"
"Danny, I..."
"I like you, Valentina."
"I know."
"How do you feel about me?"
"Likewise, but that's not why I am here."
"What is it then?"
"I was late."
"For what?"
"God, I dreaded having to tell you this."
"Valentina, you can tell me anything."
"I'm pregnant."
