Valentina

After I broke the news, Tom did not take it well at all. "I've never seen him that angry."

Micah raised her eyebrows. "Is Danny affecting this decision?"

"I can tell myself I hate him, but he's the father of my kids. I can't just leave."

"Maverick is his son, Callie's not his."

"I am aware."

"But you are willing to stress yourself out being around him and Katy?"

"Micah, I still love him."

She scowled. "Are you serious?"

"Yes."

"Does Nick know?"

"No."

"I think you should tell him."

"I know he will be angry."

"Well, can you blame him? You seriously are still in love with a man who not only was married to your sister, but cheated on you with Katy?"

"I miss him, Micah.

"I love you as a friend, but I personally feel that this is the most stupid decision that you could make."

"I'm sure it's crazy. But I need to talk to him."

"Val, you are going to waste your time and energy on some asshole that broke your heart and thought nothing of cheating on you with Katy, out of all people?"

"I..."

"You really need to think this through."

I need to talk to him, it is important."

"Is it? Or is this your way of getting back into Danny's life?"

"Excuse me?"

"I just... I'm sorry, I didn't mean for it to come out that way, I just don't want to see my best friend brokenhearted, it hurts to see you this way, hell, it makes me hate him even more."

"He did hurt me, but... I need to talk to him."

"Val, I wish you would listen to your best friend but you're a big girl and whatever happens, I am sorry to say this, but you deserve it."

*** I woke up next morning and saw five missed calls from Danny and a text message.

Val, I fucked up. Katy and I spoke last night, and you have no idea how much I miss you. I don't ever expect you to forgive me, but I just want you to know that I will always love you regardless of whatever happens.

Valentina: I was going to message you.

Danny: You were?

Valentina: Yeah. It's important. Can we meet up?

Danny: Absolutely. I can meet you at Starbucks. How does 9 sound?

Valentina: Works for me.

I got dressed and expected for Nick to be pissed. "Why the hell are you meeting up with Danny?"

"Don't yell at me. Okay?"

Nick raised his eyebrows. "Why would I do that?"

"Because I still have feelings for him."

"Are you serious?"

"Yeah."

"What about Tom?"

"I need to figure things out with Danny."

"You would give that asshole another chance?"

"I don't know yet."

"You are out of your god damn mind."

"I know. Micah was pissed too."

"Honestly, I can't blame her. Because I am too."

"I understand, but we have a lot of making up to do."

Nick rolled his eyes. "I really agree with Micah, you are wasting your time giving that asshole your time of day, don't you think?"

"He deserves to be heard."

"I never have called you stupid, but this is the one time where I am. You are going to regret this."

"Probably, but I need to talk to him."

"Whatever, Valentina."

Regardless of what would happen between us, I needed to see him.

When I got to Starbucks, I saw his Audi in the parking lot. Here we go.
