Valentina
"What?"
"Are you going to answer me?"
I looked at Danny and scowled. "What is she talking about?"
"Nothing."
"Lia, what are you talking about?"
Lia smiled. "We're working things out."
"You are?"
"Yes!"
"Danny, is she being serious?"
"I..."
"You know what, I should have known better. As a matter of fact, I am leaving. Enjoy the rest of your night with Lia."
I walked away from Danny and took my ring off before grabbing my bag and took Callie home with me. "Where are you going?"
"I'll explain later."
Nick scowled. "What's going on?"
"We'll talk later."
I put Callie in her car seat and did everything in my power to not cry. "Val, you can't just walk away from everyone."
"I want nothing to do with that bastard again."
"You didn't even allow him to explain himself."
"There's nothing to explain. I should have known."
"We both know how Lia likes to start drama."
"I just can't be around him right now."
"What are you going to do?"
"I need to call Nico."
"Why?"
"So, he can see his daughter."
"Val, is that a good idea?"
"He deserves to see Callie."
After we got to my apartment, Micah left, and I called Nico. "Valentina?"
"Hey."
"What do you want?"
"I just... wanted to ask if you wanted to see your daughter."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"Absolutely. I'll be there soon, Valentina."
Twenty minutes later, my front door opened, and Nico smiled. "Hey."
"Hey."
"How are you?"
"I've been better."
He sat on my couch and looked at me. "Why's your apartment empty?"
"I moved in with Danny."
"Why are you here?"
I picked Callie up and placed her on Nico's lap. "I just... had to be away from him."
"Why?"
"Well for starters, he hardly even looked at me when I walked down the aisle nor had a slightly happy face."
Nico shook his head. "I am sure you looked beautiful."
"He sure didn't seem to think so."
"Why do you say that?"
"Well, I found out that my sister's been contacting him."
"Ah, I am sorry to hear that. Well, I want to just tell you that I am here for you."
"Thanks."
Nico caressed my face and slowly kissed me. "Nico, what are you doing?"
"I can't kiss you?"
"What about your girlfriend?"
"What girlfriend? I don't have one."
"Oh. What about all of those girls that... you know..."
He shook his head. "They were just a fling."
"Oh, okay."
"Look, I am sorry what you just dealt with, but I want a second chance."
"What?"
"I know I fucked up, but I want to change. For you."
"I can't."
"Why?"
"I can't just drop Danny like that just so I can be with you."
Nico scowled. "But he's been talking to your sister, why shouldn't you have a chance to be happy?"
I knew that Nico was right but at the same time, I never gave Danny a chance to possibly explain everything. "Nico, I... have to go."
"Well, can I see Callie tomorrow?"
"Sure."
He smiled and kissed me. "Good. See you tomorrow, Valentina."
I left my apartment and drove back to Danny's, unsure about what was about to happen.
