Ratchet and Clank: The Iron Devil(Discontinued)

Chapter 26

Oltanis. A planet with large and powerful storms that can destroy large starships with their lightning. However, this obstacle was exploited by the ancestors of the inhabitants of this planet who came here many years ago. They built lightning rods that convert lightning into energy, which powers the entire planet and its cities.

And this is the reason why the Blargs came to this planet and attacked its capital, the city of Gorda.

After landing at the port, Noble Team, Ratchet and Clank quickly made their way to the nearby Planetary Defense Center. Along the way, they saw many destroyed buildings and civilians running away wherever they could, wanting to protect themselves from the invasion and lightning. When our heroes arrived to the Center, Vincent immediately went to talk to the commanding officer, while the rest of the team decided to use this time to check their equipment again.

"Dammit. I hope this rain doesn't make me rust. That would suck." said Maya, checking the scope of her rifle.

"Calm down, sis. We'll oil you up and put you in Coke for the night," Mike said.

"I'd rather shoot myself than stick to this damn thing. Thank you very much, baby bro."

Ratchet watched as the members of Noble Team talked to each other. He envied them. Being a member of some group or team. More than once, when he looked at them, he wondered if this was what his life would be like if the members of the Iron Lords still existed.

"Ratchet, are you okay?"

Lombax was pulled from his thoughts and looked at Clank. There was a worried look on the bot's face. Seeing this, the young man sent a small smile towards the robot and lightly stroked its head.

"Everything's fine, buddy. I just think about what would have happened if the Lords were still alive."

After a few minutes, Vincent returned from the meeting and he began to introduce the others to the situation. Overall it's bad. Most of the defense forces were defeated and the survivors were assigned to protect areas where civilians were located. Most, if not all, Guardians were killed, but what's interesting is that it happened before the invasion. The air zone is completely under enemy control, and all of this is overseen by one of the Scorn Baron. Elykris, The Mechanist.

"Yeah... So we have a lot of work to do." - Mike commented on all this.

"Yup, and we still need to find Qwark. I'm guessing he'll probably want to run away as soon as he finds out we're here," Sant added.

Vincent then began to discuss the plan of action. He and the rest of Noble Team will go to fight against the Blargs while Ratchet and Clank will be tasked with capturing the Captain. Lombax suggested that Clank could support the team, but V refused, justifying his decision by saying that it would be good for Ratchet to have a companion. He suggested that Ratchet could use the Archwing during the search to shoot down a few enemies along the way and regain partial control over the airspace.

Having deemed this plan optimal, our heroes took action.

Just like on Pokitaru, Ratchet felt great flying through the sky here. Sure, the lightning almost hit him sometimes, but the Archwing's shields blocked the damage, they just took longer to charge. As for enemy fighters, Lombax showed them that he ruled the skies. Fighters, dropships and even corvettes. Archwing and its weapons were destroying them all.

Meanwhile, Clank used his scanner to try to determine Qwark's location. He listened to all messages from the communicators to determine the captain's location. It was a slightly difficult task, because very often there were messages asking for help from civilians or orders from Blargs. Eventually, he succeeded and gave the coordinates to Ratchet.
