Chapter 14

Kailah's POV

. . . . .I could see myself running in my underwear in the woods. I could see light at the end of the path. I didn't know why I was running but something tells me that I needed to. I pushed myself and ran with all my might but when I was nearly at the end, my foot got tangled with a large root that went above the ground. My face met with mud. I was hurting all over.

I rolled over so that I could breathe and I wished I didn't as I met with gray eyes. But instead of taking my breath away, it was taking my flesh away! It was eating me! It only had three fingers! . . . .

I woke up and bolted upright with a scream. Good thing Kim sleeps like the dead. Phew! I'm not about to tell her what the scream was about.

I was panting and sweating all over. Freaks! I can't believe I had a nightmare about them! And those eyes! I had to chuckle at that!

'Good thinking, Head!' At least it was not a romantic dream with those gray eyes.

I unlocked my phone to see that it was still four in the morning. "Time to change for my daily jog.", I smiled, thinking that I'd be running with Garet today.

I changed into a tight, black, sleeveless top, paired with short shorts and my running shoes. I went outside and saw Garet in a red hoodie and basketball shorts at the end of the stairs. "Morning!", I chirped. He smiled and greeted back.

As I was nearing Garet I saw a mop of brown hair. Ian was leaning on the wall beside Garet. He was facing up with the back of his head against the wall. He looked so peaceful and serene- and then I heard it. It was so low but it was there. He was snoring! "That explains the serenity", I said under my breath.

Then my dead brain cells decided to finally resurrect. "WHAT IS HE DOING HERE?!", I asked no one in particular. "Uh, cafeteria, pancakes?", Garet spoke. "Ring any bells?", he added looking amused. My mind did a flashback. 'Hi, running buddies'. NOOOoo!

I let out a sigh. "Right. Let's go.", I said, defeated. I glared at Ian. He was in basketball shorts and a tight, white shirt that made no effort in covering what laid underneath. I could see his abs through i- I ran away. I'm seriously sick.

"Wait up! - - - Hey, Gavign. Wake up", I heard Garet say, not so loud at the last part. I sniggered. Gavign? What a name. I could feel the two of them catching up with me and soon they were both running alongside me.

I grinned at Garet. "Race you", I challenged cheekily sprinting. "Show off", he replied but sprinting after me. "Finish line. That tree over there.", I announced, still running. I was running with ease when I saw Ian ran past me laughing. WTH! I pushed harder and soon we were beside each other with Garet lagging behind. I can't lose!

Almost there . . . . . . and "SCORE!", I yelled raising both my fist in the air. I turned to see Ian panting real hard and Garet still running towards us. I was sweating but I was still breathing normally. My practices really do pay off.

"Y-you're so fast!", Garet said controlling his breath when he finally reached us.

"You're good", Ian finally spoke.

"T-thanks", I replied.

"One more jog around the camp? And it's a JOG, okay?", Garet mused. Ian and I both laughed at that. Wow, we're actually being civil right now.

We started jogging. I was in between the boys.

"You should watch our game later, Kay.", Garet said, breaking the silence.

"Gavign and I," Garet said making Ian blush. Awwe. Is little Gavign embarassed? Lol. ". . . chose basketball as our activity. The game was supposed to be yesterday but since all of the kids were distracted 'cause of someone," he continued. This time, it was my turn to blush. Gosh! "It was moved today. So, you think you could grab your pom poms and cheer for our team?", Garet finished. I chuckled at the cheering part. "Yeah, sure. I'll even bring my bestfriend with me.", I agreed.

"Don't forget to wear booty shorts, Kailah", Ian teased making me blush and scowl at the same time. Stupid jerk. "Whatever Ian! Break a leg later alright? LITERALLY! Later, Garet!", I chirped sprinting towards our cabin and entering our room.

Another day, huh? Let's make it fun then.
