Chapter 18
Kailah's POV
After playing in the water for hours, Ian decided that it was time to go back. We both emerged from the pond. I wore my flip flops and waited for Ian as he tied his shoelaces. As we were making our way out of the woods, a gust of wind blew which made me shiver. It was so freakin' cold. Wasn't it supposed to be hot since it's summer and all? Yeah, I know that it's night time but still- I had to stop thinking when I noticed how close Ian was to me now. Our arms were practically squished together. I was about to tell him to move when it suddenly registered that I didn't feel that cold anymore . . . in fact I felt warm. I had to smile at that. I didn't know boys could be this sweet. They've always been messy and jerks for me. "Thanks", I whispered. "Yeah", Ian whispered back. Even in the dark, I could see that he was blushing. "How much cuter can you get, Yanny?", I teased which made him blush even more. After calming himself down he spoke, "You actually called me Yanny.". "What of it?", I asked. "That's what my brothers call me.", he answered grinning. "I guess I'm just that awesome, huh? Didn't I tell you I was Psychic?", I joked, chuckling. He pushed me lightly and I responded with a playful glare.
After that, we walked in silence as we reached my cabin. "So", I started, facing Ian, "I guess I'll see you around?". He smiled, "Mm. Good night.", he responded. I waved goodbye and ascended the stairs towards my room. When I peeked below, I saw Ian opening the door of the room below. "Where are you going?", I whispered making him look up. "Um, inside my room?", he answered like it was the most obvious thing. WHAT?! " So you sleep below me?!", I whisper shouted but felt my cheeks heat up. "N-no, that came out w-wrong!", I quickly added. He chuckled at me and replied, "Yep", popping the p. "I'm bunking with Garet.", he added, grinning. I had to laugh at my discovery. Who would've thought that the one who kept annoying me before was just so near? "So, we actually live under the same roof!", I mused, chuckling. "Yeah", he responded. He added something after but I couldn't comprehend it since he said it in a very quiet voice. "Huh?", I voiced out wanting him to repeat what he just said. He got startled but then smiled, "Uh, you really should go inside now. I don't want you to catch a cold.", he stated. "Um, okay. Night then, Yanny.", I chirped, chuckling. He then smiled a full blown smile, "Yeah. . . Good night, Kay-Kay!". I had to laugh at his nickname. Kay-Kay?
I had to go inside the room since I noticed that I was shivering but not before giving Ian a final wave. Kim was already sleeping so I changed quietly into my pjs and lay down on my bed.
"Friends, huh?", I grinned to myself and felt myself doze off to dreamland.
I woke up the next day and as usual, did my morning jog. Garet had to do a double take when Ian and I greeted each other. He struggled for the right words but finally said, "A miracle!", Ian and I had to seriously double up in laughter at that.
The three of us chatted as we jogged around the site. We talked from topic to topic. Who would've guessed that the male-hating me could get so comfortable with boys like how I am when I'm with girls. I grinned at the thought. They weren't so bad. (LOL)
"Later!", I hollered as I made my way up my room. They waved back as they entered theirs.
"Kailah!", I was sent to the ground when a body lunged at me. I opened my eyes to see Dylan straddling my stomach, looking so happy I swear I thought I saw a tail wagging behind him. "Good morning! Did you sleep well, Kailah?", he added still on top of me. I giggled at his theatrics. How more could someone get so cute?! "Morning Dy-dy. Yes, I did." I replied not minding the stares that we were getting from the kids in the cafeteria. "Me too!", he chirped, as he proceeded to stand up.
I was about to stand up when I felt my body being lifted from the ground by hands under my arms. When I was on my feet, I turned to see that it was none other than Ian, wearing a ticked off expression. "Hey", I whispered, confused. That seemed to have brought him back to reality, quickly replacing his previous expression into a forced smile. "Uh, Hey", he replied.
"Fine, be like that. Now I'm thinking if I should rebuke our new found friendship!", I huffed playfully, crossing my arms over my chest. He suddenly looked amused then his face came closer. My breathing hitched and my pulse quickened. He was so close that our noses touched. What's with his strange habit? Is he short-sighted or what?! I squeezed my eyes shut. I could feel him getting closer and closer. "Kailah", he whispered in a slightly husky voice. My knees suddenly buckled but he kept me in place by encircling his arm around my waste. What is wrong with this gu-
"You're so cute!", Ian chirped pinching my left cheek.
I thought that he was going to ki- I felt my cheeks and my ears heat up. HOLY SHIT! I can't believe I thought of something so disgusting!
Maybe I am sick! I'm going to have to visit my doctor when I get home. Yes, that's it. Could it be a heart disease? Oh my Go- "OH MY GOSH!", I heard someone squeal to my right voicing out my thoughts that was interrupted. I turned towards the direction of the sound to find my bestfriend approaching with a very big smile on her face. OH SHIT! Did she find out what I thought of earlier? About the K-ki. . .Kis-! Ugh. OH NO! I always knew she was psychi- "My baby is growing up!", my thoughts were again interrupted when I felt my body being pulled away from Ian but was squeezed to death. "I can't believe you've finally surrendered to your natural female instincts, Purple! I'm so proud of you! I'm going to have to call Auntie later and report your progress!", she rambled.
When what she said finally sank in, "Woah! Woah! Hold your horses! I don't know what that report is all about, but you are not calling Mom!", I stated frantically pushing her slightly so that I could see her face. She pouted. She friggin' pouted! "N-no way, N-nurps! Please stop that thing w-with y-your mouth! You know her! She'll call Jake, then knowing that dork. . . He'll come over, then I'd surely be. . .", I rambled. See what I told you about her meddling? I'm screwed! What?! I'm not overreacting people! You don't know my brother like I do. He's-
My internal battle was cut off when I heard laughter behind me. I turned my head so fast I thought my neck would snap! I glared at Ian. Yes, he was laughing. "You- YOU! This is your fault! You should've worn eye glasses if you were short-sighted! Now, Kim thinks that, that . . . Ugg!", I yelled, jabbing my finger at his chest. I had to ignore the tingles I felt. Stupid jerk!
He wore a confused expression and then like those cartoon characters, his eye lit up and I thought a bulb would appear above his head. He again moved his face close to mine in one swift motion that I didn't have time to react. "I have perfect 20-20 vision, Kay-Kay", he answered cheekily, wearing a huge grin. His breath tickled my nose. I swear every pint of blood swam up to my face because of how hot it became. DAMN IT! I did the only thing I could do at the moment; I kicked his family jewels then walked out fuming. Take that, Yanny!
I could hear him grunting in pain and Kim asking where I was going, in the background. I need to vent so I ran and ran and finally arrived at 'my spot'. I inhaled deeply a couple of times then I shrieked. Yes, I shrieked and shrieked until I felt my throat protest in pain for being overused.
I let out a sigh as I lay down on the grass. I felt guilt kick in after my anger subsided. Am I bipolar or what?! Seriously, I'm booking an appointment with my doctor when I get back.
I sighed. "I'm sorry for kicking your family jewels, Yanny.", I whispered to the air, hoping that it would somehow reach Ian. I let out another sigh.
