Chapter 23

Ian's POV

It was already midnight and I was still awake sitting on Kailah's bed with her sleeping soundly. Garet came back earlier bringing food for Kailah. I thanked him and he went back to our room. I could feel that he was still on edge. Heck! Even I am still on edge.

After awhile, I could feel my eyes starting to droop when I heard grunts. My eyes flew open and I saw Kailah trashing her head. She was sweating all over, so I came over to her, "Shh. . Kailah. It's alright. I'm here, I'm here.", I soothed her as I wrapped her body in my arms, her face on my chest. I kept stroking her hair and soon after, I heard her light snores. Her slow and even breathing were like a lullaby to my ears and I couldn't help it as sleep took over.

Kailah's POV

I woke up feeling warm and tingly. Aaah, this is bliss. I thought as I wrapped my arms around the source of warmth. . . .

*thump thump* I heard an even beating of the heart.

My eyes grew wide. Heart beats?! I opened my eyes to find out that I was wrapped up in someone's arms. I turned my head up to see that it was Ian sleeping peacefully. I panicked. What happened? Why are we on the same bed? Why was he hugging me?

I knew I had a lot of questions about Ian, but I never thought I'd be asking myself the questions I just thought of. And as any normal teenage girl would do. . . . .

I pushed him. Then the fact that we were on my bed and that it was a bunk bed registered in my head. I tried, I TRIED, okay! I tried to undo my actions but it was too late.

"SHIT! SHIT! SHIT!", I cursed out loud as I heard a loud thud followed by a grunt. I hurriedly jumped down and came over, crouching beside Ian's sprawled out form on the floor. He was holding his head with both his hands with his eyes shut close. His face was twisted into a very pained expression.

"Oh shit! Ian?! Ian! Can you hear me?", I began, worry evident in my voice. Hearing my voice, Ian opened his eyes. "How many fingers am I holding up?", I asked holding three fingers in front of his face. Holy shit! What do people do in situations like this?!

"Kailah?", Ian croaked. "Yeah? Where are you hurting?", I anxiously asked. "My head hurts, what happened?", he asked, grunting. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to do what I did! I acted on instinct and pushed you! I swear I didn't want to push you off the bed. And I forgot we were on top of the bunk bed. . ." I rambled but was silenced when Ian placed his hand on my lips.

"Shh. . It's fine Kay. I just need you to be quiet for a bit. The pain will pass by.", he stated still with his other hand on his head. "N-no! We need to go to the clinic. You might h-have a concussio- Oomph!", I was cut off when he suddenly pulled me to him and hugged me. He angled his body so that my whole form was laid on him.
