OH MY GOD! I'm having a serious case of writer's block. Every time I start to write this story, I alost tear up because no idea comes to mind. WUUUUUU TT^TT
Chapter 25
Kailah's POV
After we ate breakfast, I hung out with Jake since he told me that he was going to go back today. I got sad hearing that because, seriously, I’ve missed him since we only get to meet during the holidays and term breaks because the university he attends is a five hour travel from our house.
Jake told me they were going to send Brad home. I still remember the helpless feeling when he pinned me down. But I've told myself that all of it will be put behind me. It happened. HappenED being the keyword. Besides, I did tell you I'm not most girls. . And I can't condemn Brad forever. He's sick. He didn't choose to be like that.
And because of what happened, I've finally realized how much Ian cares about me. . . . and Garet and Dylan, boys. . Boys who I thought were only programmed to be messy, pervy and jerks. I had to laugh at that, Look at how close I've become to those complicated creatures. Especially Ian, he was something else alright. He saved me, and I still have to thank him for that.
It was nearing night time so we were on our way to send Jake off. I was walking beside Ian to his left when suddenly this urge to hold Ian's hand came to me like a gust of wind, strong and demanding. I can't help but give off a blush at such an embarrassing thought but that still didn't cool the urge off. And so I did what needed to be done, I reached for his hand. . . I can't help but let out a shaky breath as I felt the usual tingles every time we touched.
It's just friction! Yes people! I've concluded that all these tingling sensations I feel whenever our skin touches is because of friction. I guess either I or Ian drags our feet unconsciously. Haha! Take that stupid tingles! Who's a straight A in Science?! MOI! Insert internal evil laugh people!
Anyway . . .
I could tell that he was surprised as I saw him jerk his shoulders. He glanced down at his hand which was now covered in mine then to me with a gaze that held confusion yet at the same time I could tell that he was pleased. Hmm?
I faced forward, contemplating what I had to say. I dared a glance at him and was again graced with a blush to my cheeks. He was looking at me, so intensely and I saw again that emotion in his eyes that I can't quite figure out. I averted my gaze and nibbled on my bottom lip. . . Maybe I shouldn't have grabbed his hand. . NO! I needed him to feel that what I was going to say was sincere and that it came from my heart. Yes! This was essential. I took one deep breath, stood still and tugged at his hand making him stop walking. I looked him straight in the eyes and whispered,
"Thank you".
He was quiet and I thought that he didn't hear what I said because even I barely heard it myself but the look he was giving me told me he did hear it. "Mm.", he said as I noticed him leaning closer. My eyes slowly closed on their own accord. . .
"Oi, Oi, Oi! I'm still here! Split up!", my brother cut in with an irritated voice as he stepped in between us, pushed Ian's face away with one of his hands and held me a meter away from Ian. . . immediately dispersing the moment we had. I blushed hard at what happened. WTH?! Get a grip Kailah!
I saw Jake glaring at Ian who was now looking disappointed. . . Was it because we were interrupte- I harshly shook my head back and forth to clear the thoughts away. WTF was interrupted, huh? Kailah?!
*?*@?**?~#%%^"#*?@!!!
Phew. . Now that that's gotten out of my system, "Look! We're here Jake.", I stated breaking his glare. He turned to look at me, his face all serious. Don't you find it weird how when your siblings act all serious, it looks so damn funny? He held my face in both of his hands, "Venny", he started. I had to scowl at him. "It's venice, dude!", I scolded. His seriousness never faltered. I let out a sigh."Venny, when something happens and I mean anything. . Call me and your awesome brother here will come right away.", he continued, looking straight into my eyes.
Okay, so his being all serious isn't that funny at all times...
"Alright, your majesty.”, I answered, making him chuckle. “We’ll catch up more after your summer camp, okay? I’ll miss you and take care always, Venny.”, he said and proceeded to kiss my forehead. He might be a play boy but he’s a big teddy bear when it comes to me.
He let go of me and went inside his car. The car purred and the window to the passenger’s side rolled down. “You, kid . . You take care of my sister. But not too much or you’ll be getting seconds.”, Jake stated in a stern voice, looking at Ian. I looked at Ian to ask him what they were talking about seconds and saw him nod. I let out a sigh. Guys are weird. I’m never taking that back.
My brother waved and rode off. I turned to Ian and grabbed his hand then dragged him back to the camp site. It was already dark so I was surprised to see the field glowing. What I saw made me gasp. “BONFIRE!!!!!”, I yelled, making Ian chuckle and the other kids turned their heads towards our direction. WHAT?! I glared at them and I stuck my tongue out! “It’s not every day that I get to see a bonfire th-that HUUUGE!!”, I squealed in delight. Okay, I hate squealing girls alright, but it’s not like I’m squealing for the same reason that they have. Yuck!
“Hey, Kay. Over here!”, I heard Garet’s voice somewhere. I moved my head around to find where he was and spotted him with Kim, Dylan, Betty, and Rexine sitting on a log near the bonfire. I tugged at Ian’s hand and ran towards where they were. When we got near, “EEP! Please tell me those bags you’re holding with the word marshmallow on it are filled with MARSHMALLOWS???!!!”, I asked excitedly. They looked at me like I was crazy. Well except Kim, she’s used to it. I saw Garet nod nervously, like he was scared that I’d bite his head off if he answered wrongly. Geez, I’m not that bad. No need to be all scared.
“YES!!! Smores! Smores!”, I exclaimed, pumping my fist in the air, and the most out of this world thing happened. The next thing I know, I was on the ground with Ian on top of me, chuckling. I groaned in pain. WTF happened anyway?
I tried to recall what happened the last few seconds.
I face palmed and let out a grunt. Stupid me! You ask why? I just fist pumped the hand that was holding Ian’s, people. That’s what happened. Making him lose his balance and topple towards my body and here we are now, on the ground, with me grunting in pain. My back was hurting like a bitch. “Uhh, my back hurts. But no worries! My little baby smores will heal them in no time!”, I said, my voice rising at every word until it turned to a squeal at the last part.
Everybody around me laughed. Whatever, my mood will not be dampened by this stupid aching back! “Here, take my hand”, Ian stated, offering his hand. I see that he’s already up. I accepted his offer and let him help me up to my feet. We approached our friends and they scooted over to give us space to sit down on the log. I sat beside Dylan and Ian followed, sitting beside me.
We were holding our sticks with marshmallows stuck at the tip, letting it hover over the fire when I felt hot breath on the right side my neck. I quickly whipped my head to my right and found Dylan leaning very closely. The closest he’s been, I guess. “Uhh, Dy-Dy, What’s wrong?”, I asked him, and for the first time, I felt uncomfortable at his proximity.
“Kailah . . I have something to tell you.”, he whispered in my ear.
