Ch. 17: hot seat

Xander didn't said anything after what the woman answered. so this is Gabriel's girlfriend, the pastry chef who baked that cake he ate long ago. too bad, her attitude is not as sweet as the desserts she makes.

"now that I'ved told you who I am, can you tell you me who you are and what you're doing here in my boyfriend's room?" the woman asked, whose name is Estella, still giving her that smug look. "are you his Doctor?"

Xander badly wanted to roll his eyes at this mongering female. now, it seems that Gabriel's type are women like this one. he remembered how arrogant Gabriel was, too. bagay nga sila ng babaeng 'to.

"No, Ma'am---"

"then get out. I want some privacy with my Gabe." she commanded, treating him as if he's just a manservant in this place. Xander wondered what would this woman feel if she finds out who he is. He's tempted to do so, but again---he chose to be the educated person that he is and just let her be. walang saysay na patulan ang ganitong uri ng tao na inaapakan lang ang pinag-aralan.

"didn't you hear me? or you want me to say it again?"

Xander turn his back and open the door, getting out of there quickly. He doesn't want any more minute with that woman who's really pissing him off. hindi sya pumapatol sa babae, let alone a woman like her. ang tao, kahit ano pa ang natapos pero magaspang naman ang pag-uugali, wala pa ring kwenta. a diploma is just a piece of paper if you're ill-mannered and have a rubbish personality.

"Doc Xander?"

He turned around and saw Jiro and Luke, bringing things with them. it looks like baskets of assorted fruits.

"Oh. Hey." he said. the two nodded at him and shook his hand.

"what are you doing here, outside Gabe's room?" Luke ask him, looking at the closed door. "pinaalis ka ba nya, Doc? sinungitan ka ba?"

Xander smiled and shook his head.

"no. ano kasi... His girlfriend is in there. and.. She wants me out, saying that she wants privacy with him." he said. nagkatinginan ang dalawa at pansin nyang tila sumama ang timpla ng mga ito.

"tinarayan ka ba ng babaeng yun, Doc? anong mga sinabi nun sa inyo?"
tanong ni Jiro sa kanya. ayaw nya na sanang magsalita pa dahil ayaw nyang isipin nung babae na nagsumbong sya sa mga kaibigan ni Gabriel.

"halata namang umandar na naman ang kagaspangan ng ugali ng babaeng yun, Ji." ani Luke na napailing. "ano pa nga bang aasahan mo sa isang yun."

"we'll talk to---"

"No, huwag na. baka mag-away pa kayo sa loob, makakasama yun kay Gabriel. mahina pa ang katawan nya at kailangan nya ng tamang pahinga." He said. "hayaan nyo na. hindi naman na kami magkikita pa nun, eh. just forget it."

"well, ikaw ang bahala, Doc. kami na po ang humihingi ng paumanhin sa inasal nya sa inyo." Luke said. "nakakahiya, ikaw pa naman ang tumulong kay Gabe na madala sya dito at magamot."

"don't mention it. I'll help whenever I can, may charity naman na umaako na ngayon sa gastusin ni Gabriel---"

"Doc Xander?" it's Rigor with his parents and Gift. "Oh, andito na pala kayong dalawa. Why didn't you come inside?"

"nah, may buwitre sa loob." tugon ni Jiro na nagmano sa mga magulang ni Rigor, pati na si Luke.

"bwitre? anong ibig mong sabihin, hijo?" tanong ng ama ni Rigor na nagugulohan sa sinasabi ng dalawa. nagkatawanan sina Jiro at Luke.

"uhm, what they meant is that.. Gabriel's girlfriend is inside the room, Ma'am and Sir. She wants privacy kaya... pinalabas nya 'ko." Xander replied, glancing at his watch. "and I think i have to go, too. babalik na po ako sa department ko."
