Ch. 32: it hurts doing the right thing

Xander can't sleep a wink when he got back to Khairie's penthouse. His mind keeps on going back to Gabriel and the thing that's about to happen them if he didn't exerted self-control. people may call him a hypocrite for what he did for deep inside he really wanted it to happen, but he thanked himself for doing what's right. He's an educated person, so he must act like one. lasing si Gabriel at hindi tama na may mangyari sa kanila na wala ito sa tamang huwisyo.

He slumped on the sofa, staring emptily at the black, flat screen of the television. He bit his lip and heaved a sigh. He's getting so bottled up of everything in his life right now. everything is so messed up, he's starting to question even his own existence. mula sa pamilya nya, sa babaeng pinangakuan nya sana ng kasal pero iniwan sya para sumama sa iba. He sometimes wondered if reincarnation is true. at kung totoo man, baka masama syang tao nung nakaraan nyang buhay kaya ganito ang buhay nya sa kasalukuyan.

His throat is parched from that hot almost x-rated encounter he had with Gabriel. dama nya ang panunuyo ng kanyang lalamunan at ang hindi maalis na init ng kanyang katawan. so he got up and rummage at Khairie's fridge, and found cans of beer. He choose a six pack and put it on the counter, drinking them hastily one by one.

not contented, he drunk a lot more. nagsisimula ng umikot ang paningin nya as he made his way back to the living room. ni hindi nga nya nailigpit ang mga basyo at naka-kalat ang mga ito sa counter top. He did that until the morning, para lang makalimot sa mga nangyari. hindi sya ang tipong nagpapaka-lunod sa alak pero wala na  yang saysay sa ngayon. He needs to forget just this once.

He passed out on the sofa, with the unopened can on his hand.

"what the hell, Xander! are you out of your blasted wits, huh?! gising! get up from there!"

Xander's body shook heavily as someone is shaking and rocking him hardly, until he fell on the floor. He grunted, and groggily get up. He stretch his limbs and adjusted his eyes. there, hovering on him is the pissed-off face of Khairie. nakataas ang isang kilay na nakatunghay sa kanya at nakapamewang pa.

"good, you're awake. now, would you like to tell me, or explain as to why there are so many empty cans of beer littered on my counter top, on the kitchen floor and my fridge is almost empty of liquors?" the little sassy guy questioned him, and Xander is too absorbed with the wave of hangover that he wasn't able to answer. Khairie let go of a frustrated sigh and help him get up and sit back on the sofa.

"and you even continued your drinking spree here in my living room, what the heck!" wika nito na pinulot ang mga basyo sa paanan nya. "gosh, how did you do this? napa'no ka ba at naisipan mong magwalwal mag-isa?"

Xander massaged his temples as they throb simultaneously. He still feels like the world is spinning and he feels like passing out again.

"hay, naku. I can't get a decent word from you." Khairie said. "take a shower, Xander. I'll brew something to get that hangover off of you. sige na, maligo ka na dun! you stink!"

mas matangkad sya dito pero nagawa sya nitong hatakin papunta sa silid na ginagamit nya sa unit nito. He shrieked as Khairie turn the shower on, the cold water pouring down his body. natawa ito ng husto na ikina-inis nya naman ng sobra.
pero tinarayan lang sya nito at hindi na rin sya pumalag pa. he remembered that he's the one cohabitating in his bestfriend's unit and that he should be ashamed acting this way.

"now, that should sober you up a bit. go get dress up properly and we'll talk." Khairie said. "you owe me one big explanation, Irizari."

the door of the bathroom closed and Xander lean his back on the cold tiled walls, looking up as the cold water hit his body. He can't believe that he let himself drown in alcohol for something not even worth drinking for. He's a professional and yet he does not act like one. He and Gabriel have nothing between them and yet kung maka-inom sya, daig nya pa ang hiniwalayan nito.

He slowly showed up again after he got bathed and dress up. mas lalong nakakahiya ang mga ginawa nya ngayong bumaba na ang tama ng alcohol sa kanyang sistema. He just stood there, watching his bestfriend pour a hot drink in a mug.

"come over here, Xands. umupo ka na." Khairie said. "sige na. don't make me ask you again. may atraso ka pa sa 'kin, baka akala mo."

Xander sighed and pulled a chair. Khairie put the mug infront of him.

"that's ginger and chamomile tea." Khairie said. "drink that to ease your hangover. It'll also help you relax. grabe ka kasi kung maka-inom, para kang hindi na gigising kinabukasan."

"thanks, Khai." He said. "and...I'm sorry. I'm really sorry."

Khairie folded his arms on the counter and look at him seriously. Xander just lower his head, his hands holding the mug firmly. He feels guilty. sya itong nagkalat pero kaibigan nya ang nagligpit. this is the worst he has ever done.

" now, spill. tell me everything, Alexander. as in, all of it. wala kang iiwang detalye, wala kang itatago. you need to say all that has happened to you last night." Khairie said. "bestfriend mo 'ko, Xands. and you're staying here at my place, and you got me so worried. buti na lang at dito ka nag-walwal ng ganun, pa'no na lang if sa labas mo yun ginawa? ano yun, mababalitaan ko na lang na may nangyari na sa' yo?"

Xander hesitantly look up and meet Khairie's eyes. He took a deep, nervous sigh once again. tama ito, may karapatan itong malaman kung ano ang mga nangyayari sa kanya.

and so, he begin to talk and told his bestfriend everything....
