Chapter twenty five

"Back in a box, but as a team." 

A news report was going on as pictures of Maddie, Emma, Marie, Andre and the female version of Jordan were all in the corner "it's happened yet again in America. Tragedy on campus. Five Godulkin students went on a brutal murder spree. At least twenty people are now dead. Many more undoubtedly would've been killed had it not been for the guardians of Godolkin..excuse me..the new guardians of Godolkin." he said as pictures of Cate and Sam came up on the screen "Cate Dunlap and Sam Riordan. Proving once again that all Americans are safer with heroes like Sam and Cate protecting us, our values and our way of life." the newscaster said as it came to an end, as Homelander had watched it with a smirk, knowing his sister who was daddy's favorite was now also out of the picture.

Meanwhile, Maddie was standing in this white light looking around her, she furrowed her brows not knowing where she was "Mads?" a voice asked and when it did, Maddie new exactly who's voice it was as she turned around seeing Luke standing there, "Luke." she said, walking toward's him "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." she told him starting to cry, as Luke chuckled, putting his hands on her shoulders "what are you sorry about, Mads?" he asked her "I let you down. I..I didn't stay safe or protect myself like you told me too! I let Cate get in my head more then I should've and in the end I hurt a lot of people." Maddie shared.

"No, no, Mads.." Luke told her, putting his hands on her face as he began wiping away her tears "you were protecting your friends. You helped save everyone in the end." he told her and when he did, Maddie found herself, bringing her hand up and putting it onto Luke's "I can't believe I'm here with you right now." she said "I know. I've missed you Mads." Luke told her and when he did, Maddie looked up at him "well, I'm here now." she told him, as Luke shook his head "no, you can't stay here, Maddie. You still have a job to do." he shared, as Maddie shook her head "no, no, no! I..I don't want to..to go back! They hate me! I do my best and it's never good enough! People around me still die either because of me or because of something I do!" she voiced.

"Shh. Shh. Mads, Mads, you are good enough you know that! Don't let those who don't agree with what you did get in your head! You were born with your powers not given them to you by some drug! You have to go back! You can't leave Jordan and the others alone, they need you! They need a leader! Why do you think they all keep coming back to you after everything?" Luke asked her, and when he did, he chuckled "I always new you were more then what you were since the day I met you, but you've gotta wake up now Mads." he told her, and as he did, he leaned in kissing her on the lips, Maddie then kissed him back, and when she did everything then went black.

Gasping, Maddie quickly sat up, breathing heavy, not even noticing how Jordan was back in their female form looking at her along with Andre, Emma and Marie all with wide eyes having been all debating if she was actually gonna wake up or if she was gonna remain knocked out or die "oh my god, you're awake." Jordan said, as Maddie's eyes were wide "Luke..Luke.." she mumbled, as Andre walked over to her "you took that blast like a fucking champ. Anyone else would be in the ground." he told her "I..I was..I was..I was dead, I..I saw Luke." Maddie told them, although what she was saying to all of them sounded like a bunch of mumbo jumbo.

"Okay, maybe she didn't take it like a champ." Andre said as he leaned down to her, snapping fingers in front of her face, whistling "Maddie, Maddie, hey.." he told her, as Maddie turned looking at him, she noticed he was in a hospital gown and that behind him were white walls and seemed to be no doors, as she turned to her right, looking at Jordan, Marie and Emma "no, no, no, no..we're in a fucking box?" she asked, looking up at the ceiling and as she did, she saw a hatch that seemed to be twisted to be opened "I..I'm fuckng drugged aren't I? This..this isn't real, it's a mind trick and..and I'm gonna wake up and I'm gonna be back in..in that other box all alone and I'm not gonna be let out again unless they want me to be!" she voiced.

But as she did, Jordan quickly got up "hey, hey!" they voiced, putting their hands on her face and turning her to them "it's okay. This is real, I promise you. We're all in here together. Trust me." they told her, leaning they're forehead against her's and when they did, Maddie began to calm down, her mind began to race wondering how the hell they were gonna get out of this one or if they ever were going to get out or possible even be let out.
