"Was all that really necessary?"

"We got what we wanted right? And look, I even got you one for Nai."

"It's so funny seeing you determined like this. It's kind of refreshing. You could still ease up tho. Maybe me and Nai should give you guys some alone time? You should go get on a few rides and we can meet up for the fireworks later."

"So you wanna split up?"

"Yea. Unless you are afraid to be alone with her or something."

"Don't make me fuck you up."

"What? I can tell you are trying your hardest today with her. Like I can see you trying to let down your walls but then they go right back up. To be honest I don't think you really gotta do all that."

"Stop watching me."

"But it's fun."

"Ughh—— I don't really wanna sit here and have this conversation with you."

"And see, maybe that's your problem. You don't let anything out or let anybody give you any advice. You know it's not just you and Mikey anymore, right? The rest of us are here as well. Not everything we talk about has to be work-related."

Sanzu laughs thinking to himself. Lani said the same thing to him when they had their heart-to-heart on the couch.

"I—-I'm just trying not to be my normal self around her. I want to show her a better version of me. Someone she actually enjoys being around."

"You don't think she enjoys being around you?"

"I don't know. We have been spending a lot of time together lately, at home when I can. I just wanna make sure she's getting the best part of me during those times."

"But isn't the original version of you the reason she's here? As I've started to get to know her more and more I noticed some things about her. I think If she didn't like it, I highly doubt she would be around you."

Maybe he's right. She's seen the worst of me too and still...

"And I'm sure you can't talk to Mikey about this. Got to admit it's kind of crazy having the person you used to idolize now be your competition."

"If Mikey wanted her, I would let him have her." Kakucho looks over to him as they continue down the trail, looking for the girls.

"Do you mean that though?"

Sanzu ignores his question.

"What about you?"

"Me and Nai are going to be fine, don't worry about us. It's almost like me and her are starting from scratch. I finally feel like we got the push we needed and funny enough. I have Lani to thank for that."

"What do you mean by that?"

"Oh look, it's Nai."

They find the girls smiling from ear to ear with powdered sugar on their cheeks. They're so happy, bouncing on their toes with a funnel cake in each hand.

"Look look Haru! I found my funnel cake! And next to it was a booth, they had funnel cake mochi donuts!! I am winning!"

"You bought all that?"

"Yeah, Ima eat it all too. I got something for you too——- somewhere. Hey, but do you want some of this?" She offers him a bite of her donut.
