"Soren, there's someone here to see you." I look up to see my father talking to me, I look at him for a moment trying to think who it could be.
I get up from my desk and walk out of the room towards the stairs, I begin to walk down carelessly. With each step I grow paranoid, thinking it could be someone trying to set me up. I grab ahold of my gun that's strapped on my side.
I immediately let go as I saw who it was, what was she doing?
"Lorelei, what do I owe the pleasure?" I say politely, I would never disrespect her. She was kind and my future mother-in-law.
"I came to talk to you about Kalani, I now see that anything I say won't change my husband's mind, so you need to be prepared for my daughter." She says with her gentle voice, even though she probably hates me right now it doesn't sound like it.
"I'm sorry, this wasn't my choice. It was my fathers and your husbands." I tell her honestly, before them I didn't know Kalani even existed. They hid her so perfectly, I went to go see her at the park and saw her with some boy, it infuriated me.
I didn't think twice about telling Martin that she could no longer see him, I wondered if Kalani knew it was me.
"I know, that's why I forbid you to see her until she turns 20. Let her go to school and make friends, go to parties, and do what a teenager should do. It's limited because of Martin but it's at least something, please give her that. In the meantime, you can study her, learn to know her, and learn to love her. My daughter deserves to be happy, she's my sweet Angel." She finishes with tears in her eyes,
I stare at her for a moment, my eyes show no emotion but her words I took in. I'm going to do this for her because I know it means a lot to her and Kalani.
"Okay, tell me what I need to know. If she's a sweet Angel. I intend to keep her that way. For yours and her sake ." I tell her, she looks at me with happiness in her eyes.
"Come, let's sit down. This might take a while." She says, I had to fight a smile, it's something I haven't done in years. How was she able to make me smile?
If she was special, I know Kalani was something bright. She was going to become my sweet Angel.
