Chapter 8

(A=you; S=Sasori- pov)

"I'm gonna grind you into dust."

"What is that?"

"The most terrifying weapon in the history of the Sand Village. The Iron Sand."

(episode 24 beyond this point)

(no one's pov)

"Iron sand?" Sakura asked. Chiyo went on to explain all she knew about the Iron Sand jutsu of the Third Kazekage.

"Sasori's the only one who can produce human puppets. The puppet retains whatever chakra the body possessed in life," Chiyo then explained the benefits of having a human puppet.

"There's more to it than that," Sasori said and smiled. "This puppet is my favorite of my entire collection."

Chiyo told Sakura to get away while she still could, saying that she could handle this.

"You're too slow!" Sasori yelled. "Iron Sand: Scatter Shower!" The Iron Sand went flying towards the two women at an amazing speed. Chiyo used the mother puppet to get Sakura out of the way. There was a cloud of smoke from the impact. As the smoke was clearing, Sasori stared right into the dust cloud. He saw Chiyo being protected by some sort of chakra shield made by the father puppet.

"You've made some changes, I see," he told the old woman. "And a chakra shield at that. A definite upgrade since I last played with them."

Chiyo tried to move the father puppet once again but wasn't able to.

"You have to do more than just block it. You have to dodge this jutsu to survive. Is that it? Saving the girl is all you can manage?" Sasori chuckled/laughed. "The Iron Sand has crept into every crevice of the puppet. As long as I have the Third's magnetic power, that puppet is worthless."

Aiko (you) looked at everything that was going on but couldn't really make out what they were saying, so you just watched. The only one you could really here, because of their close proximity, was Sasori.

"Let's see, yes. I think it's time I attack both of you at once. Just to make sure you're really dead, I'll use my most lethal form," the Iron Sand rose up and started morphing into spikes. "They won't get away this time."

You looked at Sasori and noticed his head slightly turned to where you were standing.

"Is it right to kill them?" you whispered. "Why not just knock them out?"

"Just stay out of the way," Sasori whispered back. "I'll take care of this."

You turned back to the two women and so did Sasori.

"One puppet, two people. Can't protect them both. What do you say to that you witch? Which of you will die!?" Sasori moved the puppet forward and the spikes went down. The spikes smashed onto the two women. Smoke hid them from view.

Very slowly, the smoke was starting to clear. You saw the girl had been protected by the same chakra shield that the father puppet had, except the mother puppet had the shield this time. Your eyes widened and you heard Sasori lightly gasp. You looked to where he was looking.

Chiyo had survived! And she had used a chakra shield! Her arm was opened and the bright blue chakra was protecting her.

"Just enough, but you still cannot move your body," Sasori told Chiyo. "We puppet masters are all alike. Our minds work the same, don't they?" Chiyo stood up and tried to close her hand but found she was unable to. Sasori chuckled. The Iron Sand is preventing her from closing that puppet arm. You thought to yourself.
