Chapter 44

"You should watch that attitude young man," Tsurugi advised. "It could get you into trouble at one point."

Sasori's eyes narrowed. "Look, the only one here that needs to watch their attitude is you. I could turn you into a—"

"Sasori!" you warned.

"Sasori?" Tsurugi questioned. "As in, Sasori of the Red Sands? Rogue from the Hidden Sand and member of the Akatsuki?"

"Oh sh*t," Sasori muttered.

Tsurugi turned toward Yamato. "You know they are wanted criminals, nationally. Why do you keep them around?"

"We're not," Yamato answered. He made a hand sign and you were trapped in a wooden cage.

"Hey what—?" Naruto gasped.

"Naruto," you began.

Sasori placed a hand over your mouth. He leaned close to your ear and whispered, "This is part of their plan. Unless you want to end up in the middle of a crossfire between the Hidden Leaf and the Hidden Mist, you will stay silent."

You nodded and he removed his hand from your mouth. "I messed up, didn't I?" you whispered.

"Yeah, but we'll be able to get out of this," Sasori whispered back. "Don't get upset over it, everyone makes mistakes."

"Are you betraying them?" Tsurugi questioned. "Or capturing them?"

"Now, what makes you think we're betraying them as you put it?" Yamato asked.

"You seem to be familiar with them, and they don't appear to be fighting against you," Tsurugi pointed out.

Yamato glanced back at the wooden cage. "The girl is injured and the man has no intention of fighting us and in doing so endangering the life of the girl. I think it's pretty safe to assume they won't try anything right now, and besides," Yamato looked back at Tsurugi. "There's three from the Leaf, four from the Mist, and Utakata here. I don't think they'd be foolish enough to actually try to escape with such uneven odds."

"You have a point there but," Tsurugi looked at the cage. "Regardless of that, what do you plan to do with them? Can you truly trust yourselves with them?"

"We have brought... precautions," Yamato replied and pulled out two silver bracelets. "Chakra suppressors. Naruto, Sai, you know what to do," he handed one to each of the boys. They both took one and looked at it. Their eyes showed understanding and they nodded. They walked over to the wooden cage.

"Come on, hands out! Both of you!" Naruto ordered harshly. You stared at the bracelet in his hand then looked up to meet his gaze. He smirked and winked. You made an 'o' with your mouth so show you understood. He reached in and pulled your hand between two bars, making it appear that he was being harsh. "I said hands out," he repeated as he placed the fake bracelet on your wrist and made a pretend hand sign.

Sai put the other bracelet on Sasori and they both stepped back. "Now you won't be able to try anything," Sai stated.

Sasori glared at the boy. "Whatever you brats."

"There, that should allow you to leave in peace, shouldn't it?" Yamato asked.

"It makes it a little safer but..." Tsurugi glanced at Utakata and you did the same. He was gaining a bit of distance. Tsurugi turned back to Yamato. "Make sure you keep them watched at all times."

Yamato nodded. "Rest assured that will happen."

"Very well then, we'll be leaving now," Tsurugi said and motioned his hand toward the Hidden Mist ANBU. "Scatter!"
