Chapter 17

"Why are we gonna attack a temple!" you asked as you sat down on the bottom stairs. Hidan knelt down beside you.

"Because Kakuzu says this priest guy has a huge bounty on his head, and you know he's in charge of the money for the organization," he told you. Hidan grabbed your arm and pulled you up to your feet. "Now come on, we gotta get moving."

You looked up at the stairs with an incredulous look. "How... how many stairs are these?"

Kakuzu and Hidan looked at the stairs leading up to the temple.

"About a thousand," Hidan answered. You grumbled.

"I'll wait here thank you," you told them as you sat down again. Hidan and Kakuzu exchanged glances and nodded to each other.

~Halfway up the stairs~

You found yourself swinging from left to right on Hidan's shoulder. You sighed.

"Do we really have to attack priests?" you asked.

"This is no ordinary priest," Kakuzu told you. "Chiriku, a powerful priest with a high bounty on his head."

"Still," you argued. "Their gods will punish you."

"No to worry princess," Hidan told you. "Cause lord jashin has us covered."

"He has you covered," you mumbled under your breath and sighed. "Are we there yet?"

"No," Kakuzu answered.

"How much farther?" you pressed.

Kakuzu sighed. "It takes as long as it will kid. Now, shut up."

"Hey," Hidan spoke up. "Go easy on her. She's just about as impatient as you are."

"Shut it Hidan," Kakuzu threatened. "Or else-"

"I'll kill you," you and Kakuzu finished in a perfect sync. You sighed.

"We get it grandpa," you told him. "No one and nothing can kill Hidan. And you know that. How many times has he been stabbed in vital points and survived?"

"More than you can count," Hidan cut in and smiled proudly.

"There's only one thing that can kill Hidan," you continued. They both stared at you. "Put me down!" you whined and started kicking.

"Only if you tell me what can kill me," Hidan said as he tightened his grip on your waist. You puffed out your cheeks and slowly blew a loose strand of hair out of your face.

"Fine! But let me breathe!" you wailed. Hidan chuckled and loosened his grip on you. "The only thing that can kill Hidan...." they stared at you in silence. "Is.... malnourishment!"

"How'd you know?!" Hidan demanded.

"You sleep talk dummy," you giggled.

"You could've said that earlier and I would've prevented him from eating anything," Kakuzu muttered.

"Hey!" Hidan protested. "What's that supposed to mean?!"

You giggled. "It means he would've prevented you from eating so you would die from malnourishment you clueless dork."

"Shut it princess."

"Zombie."

"Princess."

"Hidan," Kakuzu warned.

"Grandpa."

"What did you call me?" Kakuzu demanded. Hidan looked at Kakuzu with an annoyed expression.

"I called you grandpa," he stated, rubbing the words in Kakuzu's face. "Got a problem with it?"

"I should kill you right now," Kakuzu threatened and stepped closer to Hidan.
